Topic: Why is this? | |

I'm an Independent and I, like other Independents, are constantly inundated with the onslaught of Republicrat rhetoric.
Just one question that has always bothered me. We are told that the Republicans are for the rich while the Democrats are for the average/poor citizens. Why is it that when I drive through the richest neighborhoods in my area during election years, almost all of the rich people have Democratic campaign candidate signs posted in front of their mansions? What's wrong with this picture? |

simple; rich people don't mind the government giving away your tax money away, as long as its not theirs

Don't listen to the propaganda.
You have been subjected to mind control. Turn off FOX |

Don't listen to the propaganda. You have been subjected to mind control. Turn off FOX I don't watch TV news at all anymore. Hmmm, the rich are playing a mind game with me, being Republicans with Democratic candidate signs in front of their mansions! They have me so confused that it looks like I'll have to write in Jesse, "The Brain's", Ventura's name again! |

There is a polarization of what american society views as dem or rep. We view the parties affliates to embrace the extremes. Where as the truth is that most american fall into the middle spectrum of political views.
I myself am a moderate republican, for a number of different reasons. If you were to have a conversation with me about social issues such as gay rights, abortion, immigration, etc. most people would assume that I am a dem. Also for the simple fact of my future occupation most people would assume that I am a dem. Political parties and affliations are the vehicle to get things done (or not done). Individuals have there own views and once we take a looks at individual views and needs on local levels than maybe our society will be better. |

[quot] Jess Ventura is pretty cool but he isnt fit to be President. You reminded me of his visits to Nevada brothel . Yep, he was checking them out because he wants prostitution legalized. That makes sense to me. Get the police off doing more important things. Run prostitution like a taxable business with medical inspections so some "john's" wife doesn't unknowingly contract AIDS. He makes more sense to me than anyone I know in political office. |

I'm an Independent and ... Sorry 'bobbyJ', don't mean to interrupt this thread, but I have a simple clarifying question. With regards to your above statement, is there a mistake, a typo perhaps, or otherwise a simple erroneous choice of words??? Given the heavy 'southpaw' leanings in your free speech protected observations, are you sure you meant to say that you were an INDEPENDENT??? As I said, just a simple clarifying question. |

Hedge-Funds, the richest of the very rich, donate to Democrats 2 to 1.
"At the very least, you might think that Democrats would do something about the anomaly in the tax code. ... But Senate Democrats recently backed off a proposal to do just that," he writes. "Why? It turns out that Democrats are getting more campaign contributions these days from hedge-fund and private-equity partners than Republicans are getting. In the run-up to the 2006 election, donations from hedge-fund employees were running better than 2-to-1 Democratic. The party doesn't want to bite the hands that feed." - http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Clinton_labor_secretary_Bought_out_Democrats_1025.html The quote is from Robert Reich, secretary of labor under Bill Clinton. |

Here is the Bloomberg Aritcle Reich used in his story. I will post his Salon article and the Bloomberg article as well.
"Why Democrats are afraid to raise taxes on the rich" - http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2007/10/25/taxes/ ---- Bloomberg Article: "Hedge-fund employees also gave more to Democrats in the 2002 and 2004 elections, though not to the same degree as this year. In 2004, executives at the 50 biggest hedge funds gave about 62 percent of their donations to Democrats." - http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=abPcaWGJlFwo The trend has always been that Hedge-funds have donated big time to Democrats and the article talks about the 2-1 split for Democrats. The reasoning according to the Bloomberg and Reich articles is because of cities and Democrats, most of the time, being in control of them. |

Well I can't wait for the truckers to stop delivering to the cities... then the Park Ave types will have to pay the tolls & gas to send their ILLEGAL Aliens out of town to do their grocery shopping. It's already like a third world country in the big cities like NY. Thanks alot libs... you're doing a bang up job of ruining our economy with your election year propaganda & your illegal slave labor. It just might come back to bite you where you sit.... |
