Topic: Network problems plz help | |
---|---|
Ok, I woke up this morning and I can't get my pc connected to the internet. It connects to my router and my router is connected to the net but I got nothing. I am currently on my aunts pc which has a hard line to the router and it works. My wii can get online so I know the wireless is working on the router. I just can't figure out why my pc can't get on. Any thoughts?

Hit a ipconfig
from a dos command, see if your computer, can see an ip address 9/10 power everything down for 2 minutes turn it back on, and you should be fine, |

could be that the router itself is bad too. try to connect the incoming line directly into the modem, and see if you can get back online.

Has it worked before?

Ok, gonna try these things. Yes it has been working. It was just I woke up and its not. My network connection says I am connected. Thats part of the reason I am unsure.

Tried to run ipconfig, but the little xp version of the dos prompt just opens and closes a split second later.

Ok, here is a problem. Even when I hard wire my computer I can't connect to the net. This can me one of two things. 1 That by some weird coiencidence both my network cards don't work,or the more likely 2. That something is wrong in my settings. The only problem is I don't really know how to fix the settings.

Ok, I figured it out. I don't know how, but my zone alarm firewall was set to high. Man I was freaking out.

To get the DOS window to stay open.
Click Run. Type in cmd hit return. With the window open; right-click the top-bar, run down to defaults and click it. Un-tick the QuikEdit box. OK everything back to desktop. You can change the colours while you're doing this as well ... and tell it to scroll. |
