Catholic Doctrine on

The Blessed Virgin Mary

The Catholic Church teaches that the Blessed Virgin Mary is the holiest human being that ever walked the earth, after Our Lord. Her holiness also exceeds that of all the angels, even the highest Seraphim! No other mere creature gives such glory to God. Our Lord gave The Blessed Virgin to all mankind when he entrusted St. John with her care as he was dying on the Cross. "Woman, behold thy son... Son, behold thy mother." Catholic commentators agree that all mankind was represented there in the person of St. John. Our Lord gave us his most precious treasure! We should treasure her, to honor Our Lord if for no other reason.

The Power of Mary in the Latter Times

But the power of Mary over all the devils will especially shine forth in the latter times, when Satan will lay his snares against her heel: that is to say, her humble slaves and her poor children, whom she will raise up to make war against him. They shall be little and poor in the world’s esteem, and abased before all like the heel, trodden underfoot and persecuted as the heel is by the other members of the body. But in return for this they shall be rich in the grace of God, which Mary shall distribute to them abundantly. They shall be great and exalted before God in sanctity, superior to all other creatures by their lively zeal, and so well sustained with God’s assistance that, with the humility of their heel, in union with Mary, they shall crush the head of the devil and cause Jesus Christ to triumph.

Why a Mediator with God?

It is more perfect, because it is more humble, not to approach God fo ourselves without taking a mediator. Our nature, as I have just shown, is so corrupted that if we rely on our own works, efforts and preparations in order to reach God and please Him, it is certain that our good works will be defiled or be of little weight before God in inducing Him to unite Himself to us and to hear us. It is not without reason that God has given us mediators with His Majesty. He has seen our unworthiness and our incapacity; He has had pity on us; and in order to give us access to His mercies, He has provided us with powerful intercessors with His Grandeur, so that to neglect these mediators, and to draw near to His Holiness directly, and without any recommendation, is to fail in humility. It is to fail in respect toward God, so high and so holy.

Do you believe she was the holiest person to ever walk the Earth?

No - not him either. Get the idea that there is no such thing as the "holiest person". I mean - what criteria do we measure this by? Who does the most "good things"? Who does the least?

How many feet on a battleship? True or false.

I'm with you Eljay...

There is only one mediator between God & man that being Christ Jesus.

There is no other name whereby men can be saved...

That's God's word....

The Criteria from the Catholic Doctrines. No need to get upset about it. I am here to understand, nothing more.

No .
The holiest person on earth is the one who gives his life for peace , justice , fairness ,equality
, regardless to nationality, religion ,creed ,
and colour...... !. Every religion prefers its own servants .

Eljah.

The question being who was the holiest person to ever walk the earth. I would assume meaning somone who would be a Type of Yahshua. Thier is no doubt this would be Joseph. This is not drawing straws out of the air this is what the scriptures say. To be called the Testimony by Yahweh spirit is saying he was a fore type of Yahshua.. You look at his life and he lived and persevered as Yahshua did. So thier is only 1 person we can say Yahweh said was the closest man to live like his son would be Joseph. Thier is no way around that..Blessings...Miles

I will agree with Mary the mother of Jesus as the Holiest person. According to Catholic tradition, she is the only person to be born without original sin and the only person to ascend body and soul into heaven.

Aye according to CATHOLIC Tradition. But what of the Torah and the child of Noah that walked with god, found favor and was never seen in this mortal realm again. Read the old testement closely and you will also find that a child of CAIN did also walk with god, find favor and was transended from the mortal world body and soul to be with god. The world is full of holy people. GOD don't make junk.

I would have to say no. I was raised Catholic and Baptist, long story, but I do not believe one human can be holier than any other. We are all the same. We may get judged by what we do or do not do but the "essense of our humanity" is the same holiness or unholiness no matter what road we choose.

My opinion of course.
