I really think filling out profiles is difficult for a lot of folks. It is hard for some people to speak about themselves. It is hard not fill out a profile and not feel like you are applying for a position. So, I think a lot of people just try to model their profile somewhat after many of the others and just post something. I know when I fill out mine I freeze-up like taking a dreaded test and absolutely no creative thought comes to mind.
 I've changed mine a half a dozen times because even I think it sounds lame. Finally, I just gave up and deleted everything but the headline and the pics.

Actually I didn't write all of my profile, I ought to read it sometime, see what it says. I did add the cookies thing, and as far as I know, that's original material.
But working from one of yesterdays thread topics maybe I should make it read like this: Male, single because I only love em and leave em. Will tend to drink and flirt with other women, maybe bring one home with me so we can have a threesome. Will move all of your money out of your bank account while you're at work. Probably will hook up with your sister and/or daughter and/or mother. No job, car is actually stolen, have been know to fits of violent behavior. I think that might just attract a woman through pure honesty (even though it's a boldfaced lie) |

i read a girls profile on here once.. i cant find it now.. but she had what you guys are talking bout.. said something to the effect.. i am damaged goods.. i am looking for the next low life to seek me out and prey on me.. all the nice guys are gone.. so ill take the next guy to email me.. please ive been alone for so long that i cant tell the difference anymore.. i emailed her.. she said that her profile was simple.. most of the time she got emails of sympathy and offers of friendship to help boost her self esteme.. she would automaticly block the slime.. and befriend the nice ones.
found her a guy that she has been with for almost a year now that way... lol

To everyone who responded with messages carrying a "don't throw stones when you live in a glass house" tone, I'd like to reiterate that I wasn't trying to judge anyone or condemn anyone's profile.. and I certainly wasn't trying to elevate mine as exemplary of the perfect profile. It's just supposed to be a funny little list to read and joke about.
Still...in my defense I'd say that there is only one thing in my profile that falls into a general and very obvious category for guys: that I like sports. Otherwise I'd say they're still enough to set me apart from the bar that the "average" men set so wonderfully low. 1. "Big on staying in shape" - Oh yeah that's one that every girl assumes about every single guy. Guys are very rarely out of shape, right? 2. "Values a sense of humor" - For a decent amount of guys, they could say "Have you seen my keys?" and even if she laughed as if it were a hysterical joke, it wouldn't change the fact that they were still into her. 3. "Values basic intelligence" - I may be going out on a limb here...but I know a LOT of guys are even MORE into a girl when they find out that she's dumb as a brick. None of those apply to me, so that's why I figured I would enunciate them in my profile. I know writing a profile is hard and it's impossible to come across as your actual personality when you're online. It's all in good fun, and I try not to judge anyone solely by their profile. And to whoever mentioned "I'll tell you later or just ask"...yes that was a glaring omission from the list! You'll tell me later, when? Because I'm sure as hell not going to message someone who can't take 35 seconds to at least type the obvious generalities! Haha.  |
