should I be upset if my teens hate every thing about me?
the lenght of my hair..the color of my hair.
the clothes I wear..when I don't wear clothes.
My tan...my tan lines..
The only time they truely love me is when I am the ATM...

Isn't that normal for teens? Mine's only 6, but I expect that out of her soon enough.

flowerforyou It's normal - I know that's no consolation. Mine does the same thing. It's hard to not be hurt, but just realize it's the age, not you.

This sounds so familiar!!! My daughter was with her friend at the mall once and walked right past me like she didn't know me. The answer I got was how geeky would that be running into mommy !!

They only love you at the ATM? Cut them off.

I would not reward them for being disrespectful.

hmmm...neither one of my boys EVER said they hated me or anything about me, nor were they disrespectful...but then again, I didn't just give them money either.

I think it's "typical" only in the fact that most parents don't raise their kids to respect anything anymore.

If I was you, I'd quit giving them money and carting their little butts everywhere they want to go. And, if they tell you they hate you...I'd beat their a**.

I think too many parents want to be "friends" with their children rather than be the parent.

I agree with that. My brother and his wife raised their kids that way. Needless to say, it hasn't boded well for any of them.

Oh no I did not! The next time she asked for a ride I said well I would love to but I certainly wouldn't want you to take the risk of being seen with me . So from now on you can walk half a mile to the bus stop cause we can't be to careful now can we .
May I say now that she is 28 she is a kind a wonderful person and is full of respect. I just think when they are teenagers they go through a very show off stage , but no they should not get away with it!
