flowerforyou It's normal - I know that's no consolation. Mine does the same thing. It's hard to not be hurt, but just realize it's the age, not you.

Question is...did you treat your parents like that?

I don't believe I said his behavior is accepted without consequences. flowerforyou

I'm just saying...a lot of people I know that have kids are amazed at how their kids treat them. And they would have NEVER thought to talk to their parents like that...so, where does the blame lie in something like this? (again...not talking about you Montana...just talking)

I DO know what you mean. I am a teacher and I don't accept disrespect from my students, either, even though it's obvious some parents allow it, evidenced by the fact they even TRY it with me.

I need to add that I first show them respect - my own kid and my kids at school. I don't demand respect from them, I earn it.

hmm well i'm only 23.. and remeber my teen years, I liked to keep to myself, but know your kid loves you, just at the moment i imagine that everytime you say something it just gets on their nerves, but in any case s/he shouldn't talk to you that way... try asking them if they want to have a mother/daughter day or a mother/son day try to get them to open up to you because ultimately maybe somethings bothering them, or maybe they're saying that stuff to feel like they are getting your attention.. i dunno
