Forgiveness frees me from the chains of resentment and bitterness that bind me to the other person, and to my own misery.

Just because I forgive dosent mean I forget.

If I believe in the Lord's Prayer, then I can only expect the forgiveness that I have given to others.

if you don't give it, you are living in your own prison, you have handcuffed yourself and tied yourself down. you are not free. if you forgive, you are free...

its hardnoway but it sets you free:tongue:
You are so right. One must forgive in order to be free.

Anger, hatred, jealousy, etc... only hurt those that are feeling it. It is always best to let it go. Find a way to forgive and then move on. I found telling them how I feel, no matter what their reaction is, is a good way to let it go and move on.

Forgiveness is very hard for everyone! If it's not, then you are lying to yourself and maybe you are masking your anger! Many people misinterpret the Bible when it says "forgive" they think it means "forgive and forget" it DOES NOT! The reason you don't forget is so that you can help others in their time of needs. You may be a light to someone dealing with the same problem down the road. And "An eye for an eye" means the punishment meets the crime----not tit for tat!

It is important to my mental health to forgive. That does not mean that I'll forget. After all, aren't we supposed to learn from mistakes????
