On the 2nd. of July we had severe T-storms come through our county. Dumping torential rains and flooding all over, Lighting blasting away at
allmost everything, Wind gusts up to 65mph that
made you think at times you were in a huricane,
Trees and branches down all over, power outages
all over.

I was caught out in this storm on the road.
When the storm subsided it had left several
inches of water on many roads. I approached a
road that looked like a lake, and turned off to
avoid it. Got tacobell, parked, and ate my dinner
while watching the scene unfold before me. My
daughter was with me. We were abserving the lake
on the road before us.

There were several cars in the right lane and turn lane that had made it through the lake, but
stalled right after they exited the water. This left
the left lane on that side of the road open BARELY. Good sameritains were trying to help
these people start their cars.

We had three types of people I was observing.
That is were I get the good, the bad, and the just plain stupid from.
The good ones were helping out as much as they can Including the man that was trying to unplug the street drains with a stick so the water would start to go down.

We had the bad ones who thought- I can get through
this and drove a bit fast though the water. Splashing the poor guy trying to unplug the sewer
drains. Splashing the good people helping out
and driving by laughing. noway

Then we have the just plain STUPID! rant
Those that were no doubt speeding at an alarming
rate. Causing a tidel wave in the water.
Totally drowning the poor guy trying to unplug
the drains. Drowning the slow cars just trying to get through and causing them to also stall.
As my daughter and I watched in horror. He speed through the narrow lane of cars and people that
were helping. Narrowly missing the good samaritains. Causing several to jump out of the way for their lives. While this maniac continued
to barroll dowm the street without a care. OMG!!!
Plus with power out the street lights were too,
and many went barrolling through those too- or
just did'nt take turns and allmost caused accidents. noway

It gives me great concern about this city in case
of a dire emergancey. I really wonder what will
happen then. Seeing as the bad and just plain stupid seem to out weigh the good. spock scared

Susan...

All I can say is that I am not at all surprised. It happens all the time, I know I've seen it.

Isn't it a shame that there are not MORE people that are willing to help than the idiots in the world that are willing to risk hitting someone, just because they have to get somewhere!!!!

What can I say, it's really become pitiful!!!!!!!

OMG it is so sad that some don't take the time to help out others and only worry about themselves. Just think if they are like that when problems arise. What they are like in everyday life. Only out for themselves.rant

I agree, but disgree..
What do you feel about those people that drove thru the water covered(lake looking) road in the first place? Secondly; They had put those people lives in danger that were trying to help.
I don't know if there was another way around the mess. But I would not even think about driving thru a flooded road in the first place, especially one that looks like a lake. That is just common sense.
I; just in my own opinion, think people should be held accountable for there own actions.

Just to add..

I would never turn down a hand to help someone that used good judgement, but to many T.V. reports say " don't drive thru flooded roadways" even newspapers.

I agree people should be held accountable for their actions. Yes those stalled cars- deffinately put those that were helping at risk. No one should of drove through there. There was a way around and I took that route. Unfourtunately
you allways get people who don't use good judgement and try to drive through the water.
Allthough some of them may of been there when the water rose up on them fast- so I can't say for sure about it. The rain was so bad it made some cars stop just by being poured on. I know the car
I was driving allmost stalled when it was being poured on. That is why I stopped for awhile till
things calmed down, and to let the car dry out abit.
