Oil ... the current gold.

Without it we are a society set back by 200 years.

It causes wars, unrest and greed.

We will merely be forced to change a lifestyle that people should be striving to change already. But discipline won't really be a factor anymore. True necessity will take the place of the "need" for luxury.

We will move on and adjust accordingly, just as we have been doing since caveman days!

The American people are a strong people, they unite together and become one in the midst of great challenges.

Do NOT understimate the stamina and courage of the citizens of this great country, the United States of America.

God gave us oil, coal, etc. for our use, for our needs. It was put in this earth for a reason. Not for political rhetoric and blaming this and blaming that on one another. He also gave us minds and knowledge, to be put to use for the betterment of our lives.

May God continue to bless the American people, the United States of America.

Y'know what, I was sorely tempted to reply to the previous poster, but, you made me smile and so I wont ...

bigsmile

But it is a serious question ...

... even if we get posters who would like god to take credit for all the deaths and mutilations that illegal wars create in the pursuit of liquid gold

That is what "inspired" this thread.

Im astounded that the majority of us cannot see that once the oil is gone, something else will have to be found.

so why not find it now?

Are people in Europe as blind as some of these Americans?

As long as we have folks running around letting "experts" like Annie think for them,
and Politicians like GWB and McCain ignoring gov studies while they preach self enriching lies about the need to open more areas for drilling, we will never find another source!

I take it you are not a patriotic American?
Does everything have to be spelled out in totality?

"He also gave us minds and knowledge, to be put to use for the betterment of our lives."

Duhhhhhhh.

Is paranoia seeping into the minds of some?

OMG, PLEASE forgive me. I did not know we all had to have to present our Curriculum Vitae's to be considered by certain individual's as 'qualified' to make a statement or opinion.

Please excuse my ignorance.

Give me some time and I will create my Curriculum Vitae.

Time lapses..............

Well here it is.............. Lindyy's Curriculum Vitae:

I AM AN AMERICAN CITIZEN. I AM PROUD OF MY COUNTRY. I SUPPORT MY COUNTRY. I SUPPORT USA MILITARY TROOPS. I PAY MY TAXES. I AM A CHRISTIAN.

TADA!!!!

Unfortunately, yes, the Euro zone is as blase about it as the majority of the US.

But I think that the "It wont happen to me" syndrome is indicative of all of humanity generally.

It could be about oil, pollution, global warming, natural disasters, etc or whatever, we all dont want to look too far into the future.

Then our govts see this and because it is human nature to avoid change, the govts will do these things and a few will argue about it, but on the whole the majority will revert to "It wont happen to me"

Your fuel prices are sky-high, so are Europe's.

Here in the Egypt they are complaining about the rise of fuel prices too.

it has gone up from L.E. 0.97 to L.E. 1.27 a litre (or $0.531 to $0.696 a litre)

or $2.41 to $3.15 a gallon
(all in US dollars)

In the UK it is the equivalent of $11.35 a gallon!!!!

So, it is a global thing.

The only thing that the Middle East can do to get the US' attention is withold the thing it needs the most - oil
