Hey RS, how are ya???? Happy 4th!

I am blunt and no matter if it hurts or not,I will tell the truth.because I want the same for me. |

Thanks Joel, but wow. We seem to be getting mixed replies here... You know what Faust...I'm mixed. In my first post I said I was a hypocrite because I said I wanted brutal honesty but not to hurt people. I guess I can take it, but not dish it out. If there is something so (I guess "life altering") about your past you're going to have to divulge it to anyone that matters...... Wrong? |

Hey RS, how are ya???? Happy 4th! Thanks... Not so well tonight, but I am sure I will be fine later. Once this all passes. You are right Joel. I feel a little better now. |

I just think that "brutal truth" is not always the best policy.

When I say mixed replies, I mean not everyone is agreeing on the same thing..... Crazy Yah....honest about one's self. and Having to be the bad (but good) guy to a friend. |

I just think that "brutal truth" is not always the best policy. Except in self evaluation. |

Black and white is no way for me to color a world filled with so many shades of gray.

Black and white is no way for me to color a world filled with so many shades of gray. Well put! but again...when it comes to how YOU see the world....THAT is your absolute truth....right?....or just your perception tonight? |

Well put! but again...when it comes to how YOU see the world....THAT is your absolute truth....right?....or just your perception tonight? I think there are many angles and it is a virtue I can only wish to possess more often to perceive from more than one. |

Last night in a "typical" thread a real young guy came out and said, "the less attractive she is, the less likely she is to leave
you. The less likely she is to leave you, the worse you can treat her. (It wasn't HIS behaviour) I can't tell you how much I hated that statement.... or how much I respected the kid's cahoneys for saying it. |

Black and white is no way for me to color a world filled with so many shades of gray. I don't believe in gray. Gray is the rule of exception. If the world is filled with gray (because people pride themselves on having an open mind by seeing both sides and trying to justify that Eliminating Black and White) then there is no black or white, meaning no wrong or right. See, my problem with those who live in "Gray"..... They never make a choice. They sit there and talk about "Gray", while Black and White are doing something. The only difference? At least Black and White know where they stand. |

"The rule of exception"
OUTSTANDING! You are (I believe) saying that the "quest" for truth should be diligent. and hope you are not eluding that there will EVER be absolution (other than in your belief...by God) LOVE THAT QUOTE! |

I would argue that that recognizing shades of gray in the world allows one to consider all of the information for making informed decisions about where they stand. If you discard all but two colors, then yes, it is easier, but not necessarily better. Stop lights used to only have two colors. You knew when to go and when to stop, and that was it. That yellow light does leave some ambiguity of "should I hit the brakes or keep going?", and you have to think about where you stand, but I'll take it and be better off personally and as a citizen for it.

By the way, I don't believe in absolute right and wrong.

By the way, I don't believe in absolute right and wrong. Glad I saw THIS first. I'd agree with ambiguity in the realm of perception and forces of the unknown. Who really knows the "absolute" truth...but.... in the tangible world there IS black and white. (Did you steal the cookie from the cookie jar or not?) Funny..I'm more prone to "gray" when it comes to right and wrong. (It's wrong to steal the cookie...period. It's also wrong to let someone go into diabetic shock because you refuse to steal.) |

Is honesty the best policy? No matter how much it will affect someone you care about or wish to know and hope to be with in a negative sense? Or are some things better left unsaid? Can you handle it? I'd rather scare away those who can't handle me than to fool them into thinking they can. It leaves more room for real friends that way. Not much gets left unsaid but there's alot of skid marks out of the driveway, so-to-speak. |
