I'm getting pissed off. My computer tell me my sound system is working fine. It tells me that my sound card is updated to the latest drivers. I'm plugged into the matching jack. But my speakers do not work. ARG. They worked fine. But everytime I turned on teh computer, it asked what I plugged into the microphone jack. So I tried moving them Now they don't work no matter what. GRRRR.

Do headphones work?

Can you plug the speakers into something else? (to determine whether it's the speakers or the PC at fault)

I suspect that either some of the smoke has escaped from your a card, or one of the pipes is broken and is letting electrons dribble out the breakfrustrated

Don't have anything else to plug the speakers in to. I can get a few game sounds. Like spell casting in WoW. But I can't get system sounds. I can't get music to play. I can't get website sounds.

I don't know if it will help. But check the speaker settings on your PC. I accidently muted mine one time. It took me a few days to figure out what was wrong.

I tried that. Checked all the settings. Used the trouble shooting systems. Nothing.

I also think I disabled my detect new devices wizard that pops up windows on new things when I start my computer.

If you have your original Windows disk...reload Windows and type R when it asks you if you want to repair or do a full install.
