I really didn't think about it then...just thought you had to do it. When I realized some didn't, I put up a cameo for when I wasn't online. It did seem strange for my pic to be up when I wasn't here. It's like if I'm online, it's a representation, but if I'm not online, it seems like an advertisement somehow. ohwell

Were you afraid to post a picture of yourself?

I was. I didn't want others to know that I was looking for a date online. Kind of funny. I am seeing a number of other who had pics but are now taking them down. I wonder why?

Once you put your picture in a public domain , anyone can do whatever they want to do with it . The law does not protect you unless you can prove that a harm was done by a person's actions .

That is interesting. Do what though?

It is safe to send a picture to those you know .

Yes I know. Still, what can someone do with the picture where we are not protected? Like creating a database with our pictures in it? What else?

I took mine down on another site. Bumped into my exhusband who told me my picture was the first one to come up in his search. What an ikky feeling...
I don't mind if no one knows me. Anyone else bump into someone that recognized their pic?

No, I wasn't afraid. I joined this site without much forethought, to my chagrin and delight.

I once say a posting where 'gentlemen' were warning 'ladies' to be careful what they post because some guys use the pics for screensavers at work.

There is also a site called romancescams.org which has dating scammers who use pics they stole from others profiles.

I was a lil bit hesitant, but oh well, better that they see me right away how I look before they think that I'm all booty and vivacious (which I'm not.  drinker )

((Topsy)) No problems from where I'm sitting.huh Except I don't sex cats, little quirky that way.

Back to OP question. No, I'd been on other sites and got over the phobia. One of the women I saw here was a friend from a previous (good riddance) site and I believe I put my pic up before saying howdy.
