1. XP is no longer sold after this month.

2. If it is like mine, ordered thru HP, then you do not get any disks with it.

The companies want you to send it back to them to do anything. The best thing is to take it to your local computer shop.

Hello I am not completely computer stupid to know that I do not of to wipe out my hard drive. It is a last resort thing to use my recovery disc. As I will lose EVERYTHING. And No not every computer comes with a restore disc. because I am telling you this computer was brand new out of the box. It came is my Vista disc and that is it. System restore is built into your computer. I know I have been using it for years.

And why do I need to update my computer? It is completely up to date. But thanks for the offer.

I am sorry, I will wait for somebody else to help. Because I am starting to question if you even know what you are talking about.

it is an HP only a few months old. And yes I got them to send me the disc.

Why do I need to take it to a computer guy? You do not even know why I am wanting to do a system restore in the first place for.

nope they do not

you may be able to order them from manufacturer

but they do not put restore disks in the box anymore

which should be mandatory that they be there cause you paid for the programs and you do not get them you only get a virtual copy unless you make a disk yourself

Vista is a problem to begin with, Microsoft even admits to this. It sounds like you did not even have a restore point to begin with. So I would call the Tech support at HP. They could possibly help you. But before you startdown this path; you should back-up the important items on to a disc.

Vista as well as XP usually have updates, Vista has So many more than any of Microsofts other O.S.

First off try going to your "START" . then " Control panel ", Then," Preformance and Mantainence"... Look in the upper left hand corner and it should say " System restore". Hope this has helped.
