I use this protein fruit smoothie as a meal replacement 3 times a week and have found it helpfull for losing weight. I am on a high protein/ low fat/ 1,200 calorie diet and I follow the Mayo clinic's food pyramid (where fruits & vegetables are on the bottom of the table not grains). Please keep in mind I am not a professional and you should consult with a doctor before starting a diet. High protein diets are great for increasing a person's metabolism but remember to drink LOTS of water! Too much protein can be hard on your kidneys with out drinking enough water!

1 Cup of Skim Milk
3 Scoops of "Advant Edge" Soy Vanillia Protein
1/2 cup Frozen Strawberries
1/2 cup Frozen Black Berries
1/2 cup Frozen Raspberries
1/2 cup Frozen Blueberries

Blend to desired texture in blender & enjoy! You can freeze this also for a frozen sorbet later!

I use frozen fruits for many reasons.
1.) They are cheaper than fresh fruits.
2.) They last longer than fresh fruits.
3.) They make your smoothie nice & cool with out adding ice.
4.) They have a lot more vitamins then fruit juices.

This took me awhile to figure this out but here is the main nutrition facts important to dieters.

Total Fat :3.75 grams
Total Calories: 740
Total Protein : 70 grams!!!
Total Carbs:104

It is also a cool purple color & tastes great! I use this shake during lunch as a meal replacement 3 times a week. I hope someone finds this helpfull! I have many other recipes I have created that follow a 1,200 calorie diet. if interested please feel free to write me and I can mail you other meals that work!

Since september 2007 I have lost 62 pounds and 24 inches off of my body. I also have lost 8 pant sizes :)

Are you sure those calories are right? That's almost 3/4 of a day's calories for me in one meal. I

You can buy frozen that has no sugar added. It really isn't worse unless they add sugar. Freezing and thawing causes them to turn a bit bitter. Because in thawing, they make a juice from losing the sugar. But if making a smoothie, you end up with that juice in the smoothie. So no sugar added would be just fine. And if you need sweetener, just use a bit of splenda.

The average active person should be on a 2,000 calorie diet. Cutting calories to 1,200 should be temporary until your metabolism/fitness level increases. The calories are correct. i still manage to have a variety for breakfast and supper with portion control and planning. The shake replaces one whole meal and is one of the most "bennefitial" for vitamins and for metabolism boosting. Calories can be cut a little...for example strawberries & raspberries have lower calories than blue berries and bananas. Read the nutrition facts on the frozen fruits and this should help. Again I stress I use this 3 times a week and not everyday :)

Also if you replace some of the fruit with a vegetable it helps help the calories and up the protein a bit. Spinach, Carrots, and brocolli are great and the fruit covers mask the veggie taste. i just like this recipe because it tastes good!

I get organic (no sugar added) frozen fuit. The shake is sweet enough with the vanillia protein. You can add splenda, but i really dont think its needed.

You can use other brands of protein or flavors too. I use this brand because it has 20 grams per scoop and affordable and found at most stores (i.e. Wal-Mart, you dont have to run to a GNC)

I'm only 4 feet 11 inches. 2000 calories a day is WAY to many calories for me. I've been told by my doctor that 1400 is where I should be for normal, everyday eating.

Im 5'8"...everyones different. In your case i might try cutting the portions in half (the original recipe makes a HUGE glass like 32 oz). Instead of blueberries are black berries (which are higher calorie fruits) try adding 1/4 of cup spinach and 1/4 cup brocolli. It will take off quite a few calories, add even more protien, and still be quite filling.

Question: can the blackberries be replaced by another fruit or can be left out entirely if I do not want them in there? And that 3 Scoops of "Advant Edge" Soy Vanillia Protein, is there a cheaper alternative or is that the only thing that'll work (if that is the only thing that'll work, is there a place that sells it at a bargain price?

In any case, since I do not often have time for lunch and this summer I am planning to have more time weightlifting, could this shake completely replace lunch meals altogether in my case?

If you are looking at a seven day lunch replacement I think that would be fine as long as its temporary to boost your metabolism & loose weight 2-6weeks. Drink lots of water though because of the high protein, and for breakfast and supper make sure to cover your other food groups. Remember Im not an expert, just a person who found something that is working (even though I do a lot of research into dieting) I use advantage because it is a bargan brand from at WalMart, you can use other brands, I do suggest "Soy" protien because its healthier...but read the labels, different brands more have more or less protein or calories. You can use what ever fruit you want, I chose my top 4 ..just use around 1/2 cup thats one serving :)

Hope this helps!
