I thought if a stain set and dried it was harder to get out. I would use cold water with a cold water wash, rinse and wash again.
I have found that peroxide is great on stains. It takes dried blood out fast.

When in doubt use cold first, cold will do no harm. Hot water can set some stains.

If it's a shirt ...throw it away

If it's jeans....cut the stain out and you will increase the value of said jeans.

Oxy Clean...works eveytime. It has enzymes and eats other enzymes. Anything blood or food will come out.
