The ruling quickly became fodder for the presidential race. Sen. John McCain lauded the decision in a written statement, calling it a "landmark victory for Second Amendment freedom in the United States."
The Republican presidential hopeful criticized his rival Barack Obama's stance on the issue, saying the Democrat had refused to sign a statement calling for Thursday's ruling. McCain is an idiot!! The President has no more authority over this than he does abortion! What difference does signing a statement make? Zero!!! ![]() ![]() |

McCain is just a Politician and is good at running a con on the American People! He knew his opinion didn't make a difference here. He was just being a politician! |

Finnally DC residents will have the right to bear arms. This will be a good time to study the effects of legal gun ownership in a community where previously only the criminals were armed.

The reason I was so interested in what the Supreme Court would rule is because I was waiting to see how far this country had moved from the rights guaranteed to us under the Constitution.
How low the likes of Bush and McCain had drug us! Words are cheap! If they had ruled against it I would have declared war against the Gov! |

Just saying. Here is him nodding to the question and then supporting it in an interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wu9jE1MnAE |

Oh yeah, I HIGHLY suggest reading the Opinion of the Court for it was done by Scalia. Great argument. The Opinion starts on page 4: http://www.scotusblog.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/07-290.pdf

Fanta there is still a shred of hope. I fear to think what would have happened if they ruled otherwise. I know my family would not have given up thier's.

Bush and McCain imposed the Patriot act on us all! Those are actions. Words are cheap! I'll bet Obama will honor the decision without even a blink! What has Bush done concerning the Supreme Court ruling about the Prisoners at Gitmo? |

What has Bush done concerning the Supreme Court ruling about the Prisoners at Gitmo? Matters not if it is a Presidential decision or not. Shows that he doesn't support the fundamental rights of the American people though. Plus, he does appoint judges and Supreme Court judges that can get passed by Congress. Obama has a long standing anti-2nd Amendment position. Bush has said he will honor the ruling. Chill out. Sheesh, you're going to have a stroke. |

i'm glad the constitution won, seems like a common sense issue
Finnally DC residents will have the right to bear arms. This will be a good time to study the effects of legal gun ownership in a community where previously only the criminals were armed. that would be intersesting. there is this though "There were 143 gun-related murders in Washington last year, compared with 135 in 1976, when the handgun ban was enacted." |
