Man lex you really are knowledgeable about this stuff...

Hey to everyone on this forum:

What do you all think of X-Men? However, the new generation X comics are
a little weird for my tastes...

ok. growing up i always thought that if punch came to punch that if
ANYONE went up against the man of steel they would have to be either
half nuts or part kryptonic.just to get a shot in edge wise.spidey can
spin webs. but "clark/kal-el" would not be bothered by it at all.shall i
add more?

I love Spidey, too, but in one of his early Annuals, they explained that
his strength level was far below that of Thor, the Hulk, and the Thing.
Hulk can't beat Superman, they already had a book about that. Spidey is
way up there, but he's just out of his league with Clark.

James Kakalios wrote a book called "The Physics of Superheroes" where he
gets into the whole problem of Spidey gaining "the proportionate
strength of a spider" -- it's pretty interesting....

i have top say maybe if spidey still had the captain universe powers
from the amazing spider man books like were he was able to turn his
webbing into adamantium or when he punched the grey hulk into space till
he knocked him out cold from lack of oxygen.but other than that spidey
doesnt have a shot against the big blue boyscout.unless maybe if he
mixed some good ole kryptonite into his web fluid.bats doesnt have
enough gadgets for supes.but as far as my fav....spidey rocks he is the
most real of the three.like he actually has problems i can identify
with.

OK, you got me with the lead suit.

But this is a poor choice of superheroes to be staging a fight.

As for Batman preparing ... well, let me remind some of you that the
vast majority of superheroes prepared before engaging worthy foes. Only
the ones in Saturday morning cartoons didn't ... save Batman, and those
were poor cartoons. :)

Batman is ten times the superhero of Spiderman and Superman anyway ...
he's human. No super powers at all. That puts him several rungs above
the folks who got lucky in the super-power lottery. Superman and
Spiderman got to be superheroes by sheer luck. Batman earned the title.

Now, should we choose our own superheroes to come up against Supes? I'd
put my money on a little known character named Dr. Manhattan. C'mon
comic book fans, you know I'm right. :)

Dr. Manhattan from the Watchmen series -- you know, he was based on an
old Charlton character named Captain Atom. DC bought the rights to a
bunch of the old Charlton characters in the mid-80s, and Alan Moore
wanted to use them in Watchmen, but DC said no. So Moore just made new
characters with new names who were very much like the Charlton
originals. Night Owl was Blue Beetle, Rorschach was the Question, etc.

Great series, and Dr. Manhattan would certainly be more than a match for
anybody, including Superman.

Yeah, I enjoyed the Watchmen series a lot back in the day. Dr. Manhattan
was my favorite of them though ... I always felt bad for the guy, he
gave a rare look into what it would really be like to have super-powers
thrust upon someone.

I really felt bad for Rorschach, what with him getting disintegrated and
everything at the end. But I liked the way Moore had his diary turn up,
leaving the door open for all kinds of crazy scenarios.
