Debbie, this country is very VERY big, it's not like the UK that is about the size of my home state......I have no idea where any of them are by him and I don't know of any with in 100 miles of me, that is what I mean by they are rare in the US.

you said 'I don't know how any of you that makes those comments can even live with your selfs say these types of things etc'

the comment you made above is a bit harsh. thats the sort of things people say in a much more serious matter

also you said this

sorry I am not a millionair and can't affored things you can.

well im certainly not a millionaire, and i cant work due to my health and i still pay vets bills. i just do without things, if she needs to go to the vets.

Debbie if i'm not mistaken your not even in the US ?
Things must be different here because there are no free clinics (atleast not in my area).
Unfortunatley we can't plan when our pets become ill . If someone has no money in there pockets how do you suggest they magically get money to take a pet to the vet in an emergency situation ?
This doesn't make someone a bad pet owner to fall on financial hard time .

weve had all our pets insured, then you get no big bill if somethings wrong, you just pay a very small amount every month. if you have a pet you must be sure you can afford vets fees. and if he cant afford it,he should find a free clinic.

I've never heard of pet insurance ??
Then only sort of free clinic i've heard of is a county run animal shelter/pound where I had to take my dog to be euthanized . If she had been treatable in order for her to recieve free medical care I would have to sign her over to the county and wouldn't be allowed to take her home .

There are no free clinic's around me. I know that for sure as I have had to take my pets to the vet. I looked online and called the shelter where I got my pets. There are low cost vets but if there has been a financial problem that was unexpected, well there is little you can do.
I myself have put a couple of bills off and called the debtors and made payment arrangements. That might be something you can look into. They don't ask why you need to do that. They just make the arrangements.
I ma disabled and have the option to have pet insurance. After all is said and done, if I did that I woulld have paid more than if my pet had had to be taken to the vet. And you have to pay a deductable before they will pay. It is only good if there is an extreme emergency, not ordinary pet care.
You can't compare this to a child because hospitals are required to treat you in an emergency wether you can pay or not. They bill you. That is not the case with vets and if anyone knows of a vet that will, I would like to know if there is one in my area (its in my profile)......I know of all the low cost ones. I have one that will see me on a walk in basis for $25. But that doesn't cover meds or treatments.
There should be no harsh judgements, and I think I know how hard it can be when this happens, because it has. So check into payment arrangements with a debtor and see if you can get her to the vet asap. I know how it is when you are doing well finacially and then fall into a very deep hole you weren't expecting. It is not like all people just up and get a pet when they can't even pay thier bills. Sh!t happens. You might have been doing just fine and had all the money you needed to take you pet to the vet before you had whatever problems you are having. That is understandable with the ecomnomy that way it is. Just do the best you can.
If you can't, and I'm glad she is making recovery, then just comfort as much as possible and look some things up online. You might find that there are home remedies that might help. They may not cure but might make your pet more comfortable during the illness.
Hope this helps and good luck. We are not all bad and most of the posts were encourageing and most of them were backing you up, so just know that we are not all heartless bastards, ok?

This is a friendly reminder no attacking others on the forums.

Stay within the Topic that is stated. At times situations happen that catches us off guard when it comes to a financial situation. We don’t see it coming nor do we ask for it.

Just because at one time we are financial secured to take care of what life throw’s at us. Does not mean things happen to change that.

Free is a word only services are not unless you just get lucky!!

Statements were made unless you can offer constructive advice then please ignore the post all together.

For those that seem to have the need to attack, just remember this could be you.

How would you feel to be attacked when you are reaching out for advice?

With that said please take the time when giving your responses to the one you are responding to.

Thank You

John, sorry your thread got hi-jacked.............

Debbie, not with the price of gas how it is, would I be willing to drive around. It costs me alomst $100 in gas a week to get to and from my job, and then add driving over 100 miles with a sick pet in the car..........no, sorry. Believe me when I say I love animals, but you have to draw the line somewhere when it comes down to taking care of them and taking care of yourself and HUMAN FAMILY members.

Just my opinion.

That's a tough deal that happened. I know how hard it is to lose a pet or see one put down. I cried then and I tear now thinking about my cat.

They had a good life you know? You gave your dog some good living, take some comfort in that fact. Think of those fun times. Take care, Jeffflowerforyou

I belive there were suggestions on how to work with debtors and come up with soem money and to call the local shelter to find low cost vets...."ringin around" was suggested and I know that if that was the case, and it was for me, I DID. And my pets are healthy and fine now. They had kennel cough which is very hard to get rid of. I had to treat BOTH my dogs and hope that it wouldn't give my parrot a cold. I know exaclty what it is like to "ring around" and he may do that as well if his dog takes another turn for the worse. Suggestion that are feasible are needed. I gave them, and ways to try to make his pet comfortable. Sometimes, people just don't know what to do because they are distressed. They need some suggestions that are valid and feasible. Checking online for comforting remedies, possibly free clinic (which I never heard of one here) or low cost clinics. Giving up the dog to the shelter is like a death sentence here. And they will not usually let you have your pet back if they do make a recovery or let you be with them when they are put down. I think we have all given him some good advice that he can work with.......flowerforyou

Look I may have some money problems but the bottom line is this isn't really just my dog at all, it's a family dog more inless one that was born when the first dog we got had puppys and we give every puppy but one and the mom away.

I wouldn't let any dog or person etc stuffer for the hell of it, I'm not at all that kind of person.

I feel you ( Debbie ) got all up on me over a dog and how she may or may not be stuffing. Bottom line here is my family dog is doing okay as far as I know of.

Surely if I had the money I would go get her check out and looked at, but no I have looked before and there are no free vets around my area and I am more angery how you fired up and got all pissed off at me over something some one else has very little control over if at all.

Surely I would go into deeper money problems but I can't at least not right now.

Yes I am great full for those who have choosen to give there support and kind words etc.

But when one person or another sits back and bashs me because of something I have very little control or really more inless do not know what is happening because I get mistold some information or it's not mistold but rather there not sure them selfs, it makes it even tougher and harder on me.

I wasn't really asking for advice or some body to talk to etc, I was just putting out what could be going on with one of my family dog, and then all of a sudden I become a victim of not being a good pet owner etc.

Surely I feel bad I can not affored the simpler things in life as far as taking better care of my dog etc, but that's just how things are around me right now.

I wasn't trying to be rude back but I was really angery and shocked by not just Debbie words and some others, just the out poor of how some people treat others when they have no earthly idea how some one else life is vs there etc.

I didn't mean to post this to cause a big up set nor did I post this to get advice, I posted it because of what I thought might be happening at the time with my family dog and although as far as I know she is doing fine right for now and I hope she stays that way for as long as she can.

Locking this thread up.

I do hope that in the future before some jump so quickly they would at least take the time to read and understand the situation that is going on.

Maybe a few need to take the time and read this before posting and attacking others.

http://mingle2.com/topic/show/134879

I would almost bet if you put yourself in the OP's place you would see things different.
