Date whoever you want... but when I see a thirtysomething year old guy and a 21 year old girl..I think "He likes her cuz she's naive" JMO.
When I was 32 I married an 18 year old..it wasn't his naivete that attracted melaugh laugh

umm by that logic the younger one is dating someone 15 years older and you set your limit at 10 years older..the math doesn't work...

It's that new math, no one gets it...laugh laugh laugh

That is kinda close minded. I'm 23, will be 24 in just a few months. My interest is in a 38 year old man and he seems to like me just as much as I do him. I'm FAR from naive, and am glad to finally have met someone who seems to be on the same page as I am. I CAN'T date guys in my age group because... well... I'm not raising any grown men. I had decided that I was goin for 30+ only, and it seems to have been an amazing choice for me. We'll see what happens a day at a time, nobody's rushing anything, and I've never met anyone I had more in common with in my life so far.

Age is a number, get past it.

When your at your age i can see that. I can't see myself knowing i'm going to be 38 in August being with an 18 your old little girl that is still growing up and learng about life. And i'm not into traning.

Yeah maybe some can see themselves doing that at my age. But i can't see being with somone that young and trying to have a family when they still have the childish personality.

I wont go more then ten years younger then me and 5 older.

Not into training? DAM!

laugh  Don't have time for it and at that age they don't know how to give a proper blow joblaugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

I was volunteering to BE trained

I'll train you....bigsmile

I agree with the +/- 5 years.

My ex was 11 years older than me..and well as you can tell that didn't work, here I am laugh

I feel a woman's wants and needs change greatly once she reaches her 30's..

My ex was 11 years older. Well, she's my ex. I've traditionally have dated older women. Now, I find that I'm talking with a younger woman and she's absolutely amazing. she has all the right qualities and we see eye to eye on so many life issues. Besides that, I still have a kid in me that loves to enjoy life and I can see myself looking over and seeing her right there with me. Is this the real deal? One step at a time will tell us but I know I'm certainly headed in the right direction.

what would you see as being an 'acceptable' age gap between 2 people???

lets say, for example, a 35 year old guy... what would you consider to be the youngest and/or oldest limits for him to date??

erm, im askin' on behalf of a friend...

Well I've been tempted but generally my rule is 14-18 years difference. If she is young enough to be my daugher even in theory she could be the daugher of my high school friends which even if they approve of could an odd situation.

This also keeps me from dating the daughter of a woman I've already dated. This way I am making a logical limitation for valid reason without failing to acknowledge the validity of someone based on their age.

So far as the other way around...case by case basis if she seems young enough to be interesting to me i'm interested but having children my age or older would be a definate deal breaker even if she was perfect.

I'll be 38 this year. My personal limits run about ten years on either side. Using these limits, I've gone all the way to the lower end of my limit...and been disappointed really, because that "kid" and I really had nothing in common. Just because she was attracted to me does not mean we shared the same "background" that fed our beliefs and opinions...and made them mesh.

I am 25 and not a kid. I kinda resent that remark.. Age doesen't make a couple. Knowing what each other wants and needs does. I know that I want my man to be the breadwinner and he wants me barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. That is what makes us happy. For that I am grateful. I love my man I am 25 he is 33. Age only proves how long you have been here on earth, it doesn't determine your IQ.

This is why I expanded my limit I was getting a lot of flack for being prejudice against younger women.

I really loathe when people judge younger women like that. He obviously just got one that wasn't done growin up yet. I'm an even mix of old fashioned and modern, and really the only men who ever seem to be truly interested are a bit older then myself. I take it as a huge complement personally, because those men seem to know what they want and appreciate my personality. I've almost always dated men who were at least a few years older then I am. I've dated a little younger too, but at 23 "younger men" are very young and not ready for the level of commitment I am hoping to have in my life. Its completely understandable, however I grew up very quickly and don't have the patience to wait for someone to grow up. Nobody in my family has ever really looked at age for a partner. My Grandpa was 10 years older than my Granny, as was her second husband. My mother is 10 years older than my father. LOL, my mom's even dated men closer to my age then her own, and even laughs and says the man I am speaking to is too old for herlaugh He's like me though, he's a little old fashioned yet a modern thinker. Sorry for rambling... its early yetlaugh

someone can be very young and have a high IQ but a low maturity level. I think the term "kid" refers to lack of maturity, not lack of intelligence. In general, younger people tend to be less mature than older people; although not always - clearly some young people are more mature than some older people. But the word "kid" does not connotate lack of intelligence, but rather lack of time on the planet.

That's a completely arbitrary formulation, and it should be entirely up to the people involved. There is no "magic number." For me, the age is no more a determinant than the shoe size or eye color or social security number. If two people like each other and want to be together, then it's really nobody else's business. What is "acceptable" is whatever is "acceptable" for each person in each situation.

lets say, for example, a 35 year old guy... what would you consider to be the youngest and/or oldest limits for him to date??

Whatever limits he sets for himself. Why would he care what anyone else thinks about it?
