The scary fact is that I probably went to school with your parents. I don't miss Riverside at all. Here, my mortgage is $950.00, whereas when I lived in Orange, Rent for a dive was $1800/month.

I have lived all over the world. And keep coming back to California. There is no better place to live. The weather is awesome 97% of the time. Should you not like it, just drive 30 minutes and it will change. I live just outside of San Francisco now. Today it is a lovely 85 out.

I agree! I love California. I'm IN the North San Diego County and its great. I think people are great here too. Everyone pulled together when So Cal was on fire last year.

There are so much to do out here, and the diversity of people is awesome!

I LOVE SAN DIEGO!

There are tons of places outside of the City of L.A. that are totally *****in'. Like the San Diego area and some of the near-by municipalities (La Jolla, Torrey Pines, Chula Vista, Oceanside, San Clemente, etc.), or the Santa Barbara/Solvang area. Tons of friendly people, weather isn't too extreme, and the views are nice.

The City/County of L.A. stinks, though. I've lived in the area for most of my life, and I want out. sick

I lived here my whole life. San Diego of today is crap in comparison to when I grew up. There are a few friendly communities but a lot of others are very uncaring. At one time you would never hear someone in San Diego honk their horn unless it was to prevent an accident.

At one time there was farmland in the middle of San Diego's mission valley. Tuna Boats were at the fisherman's wharf. There was a white deer which roamed the hills near the mission and north park.

The deer was killed by a car. Developers built Fasion Valley removing the farmland. The Tuna boats were forced to Mexico replaced by tourist shops and cruise ships. I can go on but this place has changed and it has not been for the better.

It stinks here!! People are rude, crime is at an all time high, gas is rediculously expensive, not to mention the cost of living and housing!!
Its always too hot or too cold, the water at the beach is cold and the traffic is the worst ever!!
Immigration issues run rampant, the state government is a complete train wreck and we are all on dope!

Nope, don't come to California, do yourself a favor and stay away, we all really hate it here...

I'm orignally from the South, but lived most of my life between the East Coast and Europe. I moved out to Cali in 2005, and I'm never leaving.

Yes, it is very expensive, but with weather, natural beauty and beautiful people, there's a reason people want to move here. It's an amazing place.

The reality about the people is that they're actually much more accomodating and friendly than people on the East Coast. Out there, we are bred to survive, and we have an edge. I like that edge, but in So Cal, you can balance that survival with actually enjoying life. Again, with a price tag attached to it.

The diversity here is incredible, and contrary to the media reports, the are very few if any real conflicts along ethnic lines. Those that do occur typically happen between people who should never have been bred in the first place, therefore, I don't care.

My opinion is that Southern Cali brings out the true "you". If you're bred to be succesful, you will be. If you're not, you won't. There are NO handouts in LA. You want it, you gotta go get it. This is not a place for people who are afraid to work hard or more importantly, work smart, and hustle to make a living. Cali is no different from NYC from the standpoint that if you're not a go getter, you're not going to be able to enjoy the area. Usually those people end up disenfranchised and 'hate' the place. Ironically, I'd wager if they won the Super Lotto, they'd all of a sudden fall in love with it again.

In all, it's not for everyone. But I can tell you from my experience, there's no more beautiful, horrible, gorgeous, ugly, perfectly flawed place in the US.

Guess what? There are rude people, crime, expensive gas, high cost of living, horrible traffic and immigration issues in lots of other places! You could be describing the area I live in, which is far from California.

We have it all here.....Beautiful San Diego where the weather is like no other; LA where it's warm but lot's to do; the beaches where there are tanned bodies with swim suits & surfing for the surfers in mind; the desert for those who like the heat and miles of cactus; the central valley where we all get all our vegetables and fruit from and of course the horrible fog in the winter if you enjoy driving when you can't even see the hood of your car.....lol; the mountains for those who enjoy the State Parks such as Yosemite or in the winter the snow to enjoy a day of skiing; then you have the many Wine Countries; SF you cannot miss, last but not least Santa Cruz. And if you want more, believe me there is more to do than you could do in a lifetime..... You must come visit Beautiful California.
