Topic: IRAQ, STAY OR GO | |

Gardenforge is quite correct in his assessment. Bin Laden swore 20 years
ago that the war would be brought to American soil. If they are not beaten now, once and for all they won't wait 20 more years. Prepare for more body bags in your streets, more emergency triage centers, more dead fireman and policemen, more dead civilians. This is what you face if your troops are not permitted to complete their mission. |

If religion is involved, it will never be over.

But, it's Iraq we're replying to. Not what Bin-Laden said 20 years

Why is this even a question?
Let me see if I got this correct: Iraq starts wars with each of its neighbors in the last 30 years - Iran, Saudi, Kuwait, Israel etc. They BEG us to take care of the situation, in fact, its our contractual obligation to do so! So we do it once for Bush the 1st, and again for Bush the 2nd. Everyone complained that Bush-1 didnt finish the job. Remember? Now Bush2, despite his gross incompetence, and baldfaced lies about WMDs, somehow manages to pull off a 100% millitary victory, a COMPLETE victory, at the cost of 3000 soldiers. Think of it - complete domination of a country, including air, sea and ground occupation. And why is everyone saying "bring the troops home"? Because every day we hear about dozens, maybe hundreds, of killings in Iraq each day. Thousands per month. Few if any are Americans. Clearly, the Iraqi's arent killing Americans! Clearly the Iraqi's are killing each other. Americans aren't the ones dying - its the 30year old problem of Iran vs Iraq - Sunni vs Shia muslims. Tens of thousands of ppl have been killed by either sectarian side. And you want to pull out the troops NOW? For what? To allow the death counts to skyrocket? Can you, with a clear conscience walk away, knowing that your refusal to contain the situation will lead to open genocide? Why, so that there are no more soldiers killed? You can make the call that 10s of thousands of civillians will be killing each other just to call back soldiers who are doing what they volunteered to do - and that is to keep the 'peace'? I cant. Yes, Bush lied. Its a mess. But, Saddam's eventual death would have caused this same scenario - Shia vs Sunni. In a twisted way, maybe its BETTER that US soldiers are there now - to keep the killing from becoming a genocide. |
