wished i'd had family, or a shed, or a garage, or a motorhome, but the trees, and plastic were what i had, and i did as best as i could. could have been worse.

I have been all those bad places that you only imagine. I survived by using my wits. If it ever happened again I will take it as a life experiance and go with it. I am who I am because of such things.

live if you were homeless? Do you have family support to prevent you living under a bridge or in a shelter?

If my life went very wrong very quickly, my family would most certainly be there for me, but if they did not exist, I would pitch a tent somewhere than live in a shelter I think.

What are your options, what choices would you make?

Yes i have 4 sisters and two brothers that would support me.
Now i know somone that has no job, no car, nothing but the cloths on his back. I just read on myspace on a profile how his sister loves him and misses him and and would be there for him. If the person he is living with now booted him out knowing his own parents don't want to have nothing to do with him and how his sis talks high about him. Why in all these years she has never helped him out. what i'm getting at and looking at this thread, it's easy to type somthing on here that you would do, but when it comes down to reality and from what i know. Actions speack louder then words. His own sister doesn't want a bumb living with her. So if you have family, learn how not to burn bridgesohwell

i was homeless for close to 20 months, when the savings and loan fell, in sept 87- april 89. it wasd harsh, but could have been worse. i took showers outside, sometimes under a hose in 20 degree temps....pretended it was a mountain waterfall, lived in the woods with vets, and worked jobs during the night, bouncing nightclubs and exotic dancing, as well as signs and special effects jobs when i could get them. it was hard to come up with the money to get an apartment when you have to live day to day, with no refrigerator to save food, and come up with $1,500 first, last, and security. i did eventually, and i don't drink. most do. i was the only one to get out. the week after i moved in,...they started $99 move-in specials!!!! man was i pissed!!!!
Isn't that the way it goes...the last bank account I opened couple months ago, I got a mailer in the next day offering a free set of luggage for opening the same darn account I just opened. grumble laugh

it makes us appreciate more than most can imagine, and we are better care-givers for it, and stronger than most can possibly imagine, so wear it as a reluctant badge, and be one with it.smokin drinker

I hear that! I am very fortunate to have a rather large family that all get along famously. Very very fortunate. flowerforyou

I would not want to change a thing. Every mistake and every misfortune have been the building blocks to erect the woman I am today, and I don't think that's too darn bad actually. I would sure not give back all the knowlege that comes from where I've been and what I've seen. I can't imagine a life without those memories, good or bad. flowerforyou

I lost my job of 17 years in 1994 and six months later my husband left me. I had no job and no education and a 4 year old to support. I quickly became homeless and moved into my sister's basement two states away. I stayed there until I got my degree and now I have a house with a pool.

Ya never know.
(((Hiker))) Thanks for sharing hon! Inspirational. Amazing what we can do when we have to! Love ya babe! flowerforyou
Graduated at the top of my class, too!

OK...it's decided then...we are all loading into the RV and heading over to your place.

Is it warm there in the Winter...cuz the RV heater is broken...
no, but I have a chain saw and three acres of woods..and I can borrow a gas powered log splitter

Thats an excelent way to look at hardship. We've all had it and you just have to keep going. Most all of mine were self induced. You here people say "You are what you make yourself out to be" That stands true mostly when you fall. My reason for "falling" was I just didn't care any more about being "somebody". But what I didn't expect was to gain so much knowledge about life.
