Take me to the country
Where we leave our doors unlocked Where children play in mounds of hay And don't worry about the clock Take me to the country where kids find ponds to beach Where the dirty toes and fishin poles are always within reach Take me to the country Where we still say Sir, and Ma'am Where a Sunday drive makes ya feel alive Where ya find the bestest Jam Take me to the country Where most people know your name Walk down any street, and you'll always meet kids out playing silly games Take me to the country Where the supper's always fresh And when the evening ends You share with your friends Your stories about your kids Take me to the country Where you know the Preacher too You might not make it on Sunday, But he won't forget you Take me to the country Where we have knives, and guns Unlike city folk, we're using em As a means, not as an end Lots of hunting here, both bird, and deer Fills the deep freeze for a while and when friends stop by, the stories fly And everybody smiles Take me to the country Where guys will take a "Chaw" and never need a spitcup As they're talking to thier Maw Take me to the country Where the corn grows WAY so tall Where we have a local grocer Not a hint of a mega mall Where we mostly have antennas on the rooftops of our homes Where we have "mouser" kitties And the dogs get mega bones Leave me in the country Where I can see ALL this and when I die, I'll know that I shall have eternal bliss |

Just thought of another couple verses to add
Take me to the country Where we still have "The Fair" When on Friday night If the wind is right, There's manure in the air. When on the camprounds You can hear the sounds Of laughter everywhere. Take me to the country Where we always have "Open House" If the door's ajar, come near or far Bring your kids, and bring your spouse. We just have one small request, Knock the mud off, try to do your best Cuz if you've been out in the field, Trying to increase your yield Keep my Missus from yellin Cuz there simply ain't no tellin What's at the bottom of your dungarees So, hey there Bubba, Pretty please Keep her happy, and me too And she won't make no fuss with you. Take me to the country Where we started the phrase Drive-by Where you always wave a hand or two to a car that's Drivin by You prob'ly know 'em, if'n not then maybe soon They'll stop by your place, And they'll say Grace before supper- early June Take me to the country Way out on Rural Route 6 You can keep your downtown living Cuz I'm happy in the styx. |

Well Wolf, you could do it from a southern slant. I have a Yankee's perspective on country living.. Thanks for the kind words.

Well Wolf, you could do it from a southern slant. I have a Yankee's perspective on country living.. Thanks for the kind words. I think the country whether it be southern or northern is all the same. As long as there is peace, tranquility, happiness, lush green grass, pleasant folk, fairs and all that good stuff, the country is where I want to be. I'll think of something to add to it today. |

How'd I miss this one??
Love the ending. Maybe heaven is here on earth. I guess it depends upon how we breathe, or on how we see things...let things in |

I guess it depends upon how we breathe, or on how we see things...let things in You have been busy yourself sweetie and I can easily forgive you for missing it. Glad you saw it though and glad you liked it. Heaven is here on earth..we just have to take the time to see and experience it. |

Hell! I'm already here!!!!!
Take Me To The Country Take me to the country Where the wildflowers bloom, Where I'm close to nature Away from all this gloom. God paints a picture With its grandeur all amidst, This is one of His blessings That I wouldn't miss. Take me to the country Where the air is so fresh, Where I can see all of the birds Even the robin redbreast. The grass is lush and green The trees provide the shade, If heaven is anything like this We would have it made. |
