I may be wrong but I believe that the terms just relate to your political positions. Left Wing being more liberal people on the Democrat side and Right Wing being more conservative on the republican side. There may be more to each definition that I am not including but I am sure someone will be able to add to this if I am wrong.

It may 'divide' but not in the manner you say. I would rather rot in you know where than be a left wing liberal.

I would use the word 'classify' instead. There are many, many different divisions of political agendas and groups of people and what they basically stand for.

It can get confusing, only if you use my method "Right" is right and "Left" is wrong. IMO

I have only heard sheeple on this web site. It is a left wing terminology, and those of the independent side. I guess they mean it to be a blind follower.

To that end I myself find it highly offensive. I am a Christian. Jesus is our (Christians') Shepherd and we, his people are referred to in the Bible as His sheep. Jesus gave instructions to his deciples to "tend to My sheep."

It may sound like a 'cute' word, but the intentions behind it are demeaning and disrespectful of another's opinion and viewpoints.

When you get left wing, out goes the Christian faith.

Lindyy, I am a Christian and a follow the faith pretty well, but I think Sheeple is about people following along believing what their told. I follow the bible not someone's preaching. If we didn't think for ourselves, there wouldn't be the entire Protestant faith.

Left wingers believe that governments are a force for social justice and change, and so should intervene in individual’s lives to ensure social justice is achieved. Right wingers believe that governments are big and unwieldy and so should not interfere with people’s lives at all.

But in POLITICS it is intended to be demeaning. We, as Christians follow Christ - thus "Christians." And, we follow what Christ tells us in the Bible.

Sheep (the actual animal), follow their shepherd (I think it was Dr. Charles Stanley who explained this one time) out of blind faith, they never wander from the flock and completely depend on and trust the shepherd for their safety. They could not survive on their own.

So, these political groups take that story and apply it to people who follow, ex: republican party, President Bush, etc. The independents (there are 2 on this political forum who are notorious for doing this) and left wing liberals have taken the story of the shepherd and his sheep and twisted it into 'sheeple' using this name to demean people who the independents and left wings want to label and say that ANYONE WHO DOES NOT BELIEVE THE WAY THEY(independents, libs) DO (rather ironic) blindly follow someone or political agenda because they are unable to think for themselves. Funny, yet these very same people think that THEY are the only ones who know anything and are totally correct about everything.

Lindyy

It gets confusing and they come up with different 'labels' all the time.ohwell

Now that is insulting and demeaning!!

You saying Democrats and Independents are not Christians. Not only is it wrong, but is such an unchristian thing to say that it could only come from a Right wing Evangelical.

Sheeple stand on both sides of the isle.

Sheeple is a term of disparagement, a portmanteau created by combining the words "sheep" and "people"; a reference to herd mentality. It is often used to denote persons who acquiesce to authority, and thus undermine their own human individuality. ...

A Bushie is a sheeple as well as a Clintonian!
It is someone who believes everything their great leader says regardless of the proof that exist otherwise. Kinda like if that person were God and could do no wrong!
