Pen in hand
Chewing my lip
Your hand upon my thigh
You sit and watch me
Softly speaking
"Girl you've got the talent
You've got the drive
You'll go far"
I look up, flash a quick smile
Going back to my furious scribblings
The words swirling and twirling their way through my mind
I slip into the realm of my words
Leaving you behind
You quietly sit, hand upon my thigh
Watching me never asking why
Allowing me to escape,yet tethering me to the present
As I slip off again and again
Reaching up every now and then, you tuck back one of my many stray curls
A kiss upon my neck, you expect none in return
Knowing that it all registers yet doesn't show
As I am lost once again in my realm of words
A patient and tolerant man you are
The ability to understand that the words will come no matter what
That I must get them down before they all slip away
You rise now, stepping away quietly, knowing I'll come back
Once I have written all I have to say, at least for today
