Love War-time FDR, but his New Deal and then the Great Society later on sent this government to rapidly increase its size remarkably over the following decades. It was this that sent the government to become enormous and encompassing that we lost the America that had once been and had been conceived by the Founding Fathers. More government intervention and programs, such as Universal Healthcare, will only further increase the size, and grossly erode the fabric of the once great American republic.

It started way before that sailor....
It started with the Northern States and the industrial revolution. When the north lost their self-sufficiency they began to ask for concessions from the Fed government.
It was very one-sided and is mentioned continuously state by state in their notices of secession from the union before the civil war!

Yes yes, maybe that is historically correct, but FDR opened the door and threw away the key so it could never be closed and locked again. That was the uncontrolled landslide.

Ok starsailor, I am sorry but the idea that universal healthcare i snothing but trouble and oppression is ludicrous. pelase come out and state why you feel universal healthcare is oppressive and nothing but trouble.

I personally wish that the people here DID have universal healthcare, so that we would not have so many people dying of the fule, or pneumonia, ismply because they can not afford to go to the doctor. or they can afford to go to the doctor, but they can not afford the medication needed, not even the copay for it.

One of my fathers pills, the copay alone is almost fifty dollars for one months supply, and he is on disability, thus a fixed income. Explain to me how that is right and just, but universal healthcare that would cover this cost, is nothing ubt oppression?
I think what th eproblem is, is you don't want to pay an extra 25 dollars per year for everyone to be able to have the medical treatment they need.

*25 dollars is just a thrown out number. I don't knwo the actual cost per year to make this work, but it is definitely minimal when divided by all the tax payers in the country.

If I didnt think you were being sarcastic Id warn you against that statement!!!noway noway

But, to the OP!
The founding fathers simply provided us with a guide. (The constitution) By adding the Bill of rights I think they knew we would need to make choices along our path, and gave us an example to follow for this as well.
IMO, we have made some good choices and some bad, but we are still strong and as long as we maintain open debate we can continue to change and remain strong! (LMAO, now that sounds like a politician)

I only think the founding fathers would be disappointed if we become satisfied that what we are is good enough. We must always strive to be better and never satisfied!

Hey look...all we need to do is continue to put a Starbucks on every street corner and a Wal-Mart in every town and no one will ever really care about whats really going on... I mean who cares about war, upcoming elections or disasters in China when American Idol is on?
