He lived believing
In Semper Fi
Always Faithful
Never asking why

There were wounds
And battle scars
From when he fought
One of these wars

He carried on
With his brothers
Men that came
From other mothers

The smoke and powder
That filled the air
These are the memories
That they share

He grew old
Yet kept it in
Never sharing battles
Raging within

He walked with a cane
Yes it's true
But he helped his brothers
Doing all he could do

He spent some time
At the local VA
Volunteering his time
Through the day

He walked upright
With honor and pride
Right up to
The day he died

He breathed "Semper Fi"
With his last breath
Showing his pride
Even in death
