Yay! It's bike to work day today! I know it's a little late on here, but I'm still excited. I just hope a lot of people rode their bike. flowerforyou drinker flowerforyou drinker

It's not about the bike really, it's more of an awareness day, to let ppl know that it's better for the enviroment, and obesity.flowerforyou

I don't have a bike, and I live 15 miles from where I work.

I'm all for being healthy and preserving the environment, and taking your bike will accomplish both, as well as being fun. But I'm also a little selfish. I sick of fattening the wallets of the incredibly greedy oild companies. If the demand for oil falls, so will the prices, so it makes sense from an economic standpoint, too. Of course, we could always nationalize the oil companies. That would be a hoot! :)

I didn't know until it was over. But I wouldn't ride in this traffic. These roads are barely safe enough for cars let alone trying to bike in these streets. Not unless they added bike lanes.

Ummm...I'd kill myself and take out several pedestrians trying to haul a two story ladder on my bike. Lucky for many that I'm on vacation right now. laugh

Yeah, that would be smart to add the lanes, but if you think your going slow, you can always ride on the sidewalk, it's completely legal.

I DO love to ride my bike..though I mainly do it on the greenway trail on weekends!

If I tried to bike anywhere else, it wouldn't be safe! The street I live on is pretty busy..no sidewalks..no breakdown lane..big ol' ditches on the side of the road. Soooo...no bike riding on that street for me!

Oh, and it takes me 30 minutes in my car..going 60 mph to get to work, so I don't want to think about how long it'd take riding my bike, lol!

I also had NO clue that was today! Oh well!

Well, lets see, You say it takes you 15 minutes to get to work, and driving one mile should be less than a minute in a car, so I say you live about 30 miles from work. (I'm not good with math, but soon you will get my point) ok, so how many minutes does it take you to ride your bike one mile? I say from your pictures, you look pretty fit, so it should only take you a minute to ride on your bike, one mile, so that's only 30 minutes of riding. That's not bad. That's only an hour everyday to save the enviroment.

Must be a city to city thing, since I'm told it is not legal here.

Well, you gotta know the loop holes, sidewalks are legal for anything that's not motorized, and if you are going to slow, you can go on one as well.

You Can Do EET!! 15 miles would be possibly an hour ride, granted it would take some preparation to tackle such a heavy commute but there are folks who commute 2 hours or more so its not such an inconceivable task. Think of the pros who ride 150+ miles in one day. I know you might say "But But they have 9000 dollar bikes!" and this is true but in the world of cycling its all about the man not the machine.
