I'd rather not say those words, but express them through my deeds

- glad to hear that you are happy drinker

Yeah... I know exactly what you mean. That's what I've been doing for a while, but I just had the urge to put words to it. Not that time really makes that much difference, but after almost 7 months I now feel comfortable that it's real and not just infatuation.

That is great. Ain't love grand!

I just scared a man I was dating off by saying that to him. He flipped out. LOL. My 20 year old son gave me some advice. He said that I should never say the "L" word first, no matter what. This was his example:

"Mom, I don't care if you are standing by some drapes that you really like, so not say, 'man, I love those drapes,' but instead say, 'I dig those drapes.' and if you are eating and the salsa is great, do not say, 'I love this salsa,' instead say, 'damn, this is good salsa,' otherwise, Mom, you will scare him to death!!"

Got that advice a little to late, I guess. LOL

I think the "L word" is really overused, so I agree with your son to some extent. Some people LOVE everything, which makes it not feel genuine.

I tried playing the game of not being the first one to say it... but that just didn't feel right. I got good advice on here then-- If the person died the next day would you regret that you never told them how you felt. For me the answer was yes!

My son is one of the funniest people I know, and he never fails to make me smile...wise for his 20 years!

And I am not sorry I told him that, I just was not expecting him to freak out; so much so that we broke up last week. We are trying to be friends, but that is no longer working out for me...hurts too much!

Like Steinfeld said " once that's out there that's a big matzah ball, georgie boy." I said those words and got me no where sad . Now i have my own three words, wanna say them with me. ok, " go f--- yourself." Only say them when you really mean them, don't just go throwing them around. Let's say them together " go f---- yourself. there now don't we all just feel so much better. Your welcome.

Why is saying "I Love You" such a big deal?
Why are people so afraid to say that? Is it because so much is assumed when that is said? If so, what is assumed? What is expected in return?

Can't a person love and say so without all the assumptions and expectations?

Can you love with no strings attached? Do you expect to be loved in return when you love?

Is love freely given?

Just wondering.
