my son has friend over they decided to go ring a neighbor's doorbell and run a bunch of times.I sent the friend home.

In my experience, if you say no to TOO many things, they'll look for more secretive and destructive things to do... doorbells are harmless...

my son has friend over they decided to go ring a neighbor's doorbell and run a bunch of times.I sent the friend home. I used to do that. But only on the first of May. And I always left wild flowers in a paper 'vase'. So they kept doing it and the neighbor complained. Sending the friend home seems a reasonable punishment. Because the next thing that would have happened is the neighbor calling the police, and you don't want to let it go that far. Maybe a talk on how what seems harmless can escalate into things that are not so harmless.

what if a kid was ringing your doorbell over and over the neighbor was mad.I'm just trying to be a good parent you did the right thing, kids need to know their boundaries. and yes, it is mild compared to what some other kids are doing but disrespect/respect starts somewhere, right?
