"If I uncheck that can my network computers still use dial up? And would that stop the incessant autodialing?" RoamingOrator normally yes , but first make sure you have a antivirus and after the full scan of your pc , you don`t have any auto-dialers.

How do I make my password or any word i have used under a arrow keep from showing up? For example, when I sign on to this site, when I start to type my username in the blank, other words that start with the same letter show up for me to click them.

ok , open Internet explorer , click Tools and on the General tab , click Settings , select Never , press OK , where you see "Days to keep pages in history" select 0 , press clear history button , click on apply button and then click OK button , and you`re done

Just bought a new laptop (due in the mail in another week) and got it for a desktop relplacment for work and heavy gaming--whats the best way to keep it 'cool' so it dosent overheat (due to graphics on game being turned to max) or lock up? Also, can u fry a MB/graphics card in a laptop? Ive never done it in a desktop..but desktops are made to take punishment.

Normally laptops are made to take the heat "as is" , depending on the model , you can buy one extra fan , if not , you shouldn`t worry , it won`t fail

I have an older computer I'd like to clean up. It is running Window ME. (Please don't tell me to upgrade, I have three computers with Windows XP), I'd just like to keep this Windows ME computer running.

Here's the problem.

The Main C Drive is FULL! I have 4 physical hard drives on this computers. Most of my data is on the other drives.

Anyway, I can't seem to free up any space. I've uninstalled a bunch of programs but it doesn't seem to be freeing up the space. It's totally full now. And it almost impossible to use. It keeps giving the "Disk Full" Error.

Other than this I have NEVER had a problem with this computer or Windows ME. (believe it or not) It's got to be about 10 years old, but I still like it and use it a lot.

My question. Is there anything I can do to figure out why it isn't freeing up the Disk space? Is there a program I can download that will free up the unused space? I know there had to be tons of gigabytes on the drive that can be deleted then I could defrag and have some room. But I can't get it to free up the space.

I'm about ready to reformat the drive and just do a whole system restore on it, but I was kind of hoping not to have to do that.

Why isn't it freeing up the space? And is there a way I can free it up manually? I've deleted whole folders of programs and then emptied the recycle bin. Still not space is freed up????

Also, are there temporary Internet files I can delete? And file extension I can safely delete like *.tmp. I have already deleted most of those.

I'd really like to clear up some space on this drive without having to do a system restore (if possible)

Is there a program I can download for Windows ME that will find and free up the unused files?

Other than this space problem the computer works just fine.

First run disk cleanup -> Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup <this is for xp but i think it`s the same path, if not go to search and type **** cleanup> , if this doesn`t work make sure you don`t have a virus that duplicates files , if you want a program that does the same thing as the **** cleanup from win and more go here --> http://www.download.com/Fast-Cleaner/3000-2248_4-10066240.html?tag=txt&cdlPid=10510198

I've already run Disk Cleanup and everything else I can think of including uninstalling programs. For some reason the OS is recognizing the freed-up space. I might give that Fast-Cleaner a shot.

I think I'm going to have to break down and reload from scratch.

This OS has been running for about 10 years. It's about time to reinstall I guess. bigsmile

Depending on the cd player , most of the old cd players play only audio music , what model is the cd player ?
