That is the truth and that was very well said and todays time is a big shame big time

Worst part is, everyone's saying "what a shame", but see no one stepping up to the plate to change it...why is that??? Did they become cowards through it all? Because to say "it's a shame" means they know its wrong....so why not make things right????

I wonder the same?? I guess people would rather complain and carry on about it just like many other things in this messed up world we live in, then to step up to the plate and try to change it.. or talk to the right people about how you get started in changing it.
There are a LOT of things wrong in this world we live in but it takes more then just ONE person to change it!flowerforyou

The answer lies in a few certain points. First is apathy and fear. The American people have become extremely apathetic and even if something affects them directly, they attempt to adjust to that change instead of doing what is right. They are afraid that they might "get in trouble" if they speak out or take action. They fear things like getting thrown in jail, even though thier actions may be perfectly LEGAL. They get scared easily...basically they have become cowards.

Next, the government has systematically divided the people, made sure things like the education system has not been fixed, and this is proven by the much lower IQ's almost across the board in the USA. Only 30 years ago, the average IQ ran between 120-130. Now the average runs 96-103!!! Less intelligent means less questions and easier to lead (and take advantage of)

The American people have the RIGHT to run this country and basically take down ANYONE who tries to stop that. the American people would have LEGAL CLAIM AND AUTHORITY to do so.

Yet they do not, because they are divided, apathetic, self centered, self serving and cowards.

That would be the Reader's Digest version. flowerforyou

United the people, make a stand and take back what is yours. flowerforyou

I'm reminded very strongly of the last days of the Roman Empire. Kind of sad we've come this far down in a fraction of the time it took the Romans.

Unless there's a massive change I honestly don't see America lasting beyond 100-200 years from now. I don't say that lightly; I'm usually unabashedly optimistic.

So, WhyBother, what are you doing to change things? And how about you, Dopey? Sparklin? It's just as easy to say "let's get off our ass and change things!" and do nothing as it is to complain and do nothing. So share with us what it is you're doing! flowerforyou

ya'll have really good points but i don't recall ever reading about mass murders at school in 1957, arabian night f*ckers flying planes into buildings or after two boys get into a fight the losers get a gang buddies to go shoot up the winners house. things are like they are for a reason. its a completely different world now than it was then

You forgot:

Scenario: Trevor is falling behind, can't keep up with the curriculum.

1957: Trevor gets a tutor, and is held back a grade if needed.

2007: The teacher stops teaching any new material, focusing solely on Trevor. The school board receives a notice stating that the curriculum is too hard, and that a student is falling behind. The curriculum is further reduced, so that no child is left behind. Meanwhile other students are left sitting in school for nothing. Result: Japan owns america in 10 years...laugh
