K;here is the poem written by Bonnie Parker in 1934.A very kewl poem & is still 1 of my all time favorites.I posted this write for 2 reasons.I want 2 share the poem w/my fellow poets & of course any others interested in their fatal relationship.
Question 1)Describe 2 me in your words what type of love did these 2 outlaws share together.
Question 2)What would make a person toss away their entire life,possessions.loved ones,etc.and walk into an existence filled w/crime,murder,ill fame and knowing in advance that your life & his are doomed right from the start.U can see in her poem that she knew well in advance what their outcome would be yet she choose & accepted this life w/him willingly.What's your view?

You've read the story of Jesse James
Of how he lived and died;
If you're still in need
Of something to read
Here's the story of Bonnie and Clyde.

Now Bonnie and Clyde are the Barrow gang.
I'm sure you all have read
How they rob and steal
And those who squeal
Are usually found dying or dead.

There's lots of untruths to these write-ups;
They're not so ruthless as that;
Their nature is raw;
They hate the law--
The stool pigeons, spotters, and rats.

They call them cold-blooded killers;
They say they are heartless and mean;
But I say this with pride,
That I once knew Clyde
When he was honest and upright and clean.

But the laws fooled around,
Kept taking him down
And locking him up in a cell,
Till he said to me,
"I'll never be free,
So I'll meet a few of them in hell."

The road was so dimly lighted;
There were no highway signs to guide;
But they made up their minds
If all roads were blind,
They wouldn't give up till they died.

The road gets dimmer and dimmer;
Sometimes you can hardly see;
But it's fight, man to man,
And do all you can,
For they know they can never be free.

From heart-break some people have suffered;
From weariness some people have died;
But take it all in all,
Our troubles are small
Till we get like Bonnie and Clyde.

If a policeman is killed in Dallas,
And they have no clue or guide;
If they can't find a fiend,
They just wipe their slate clean
And hang it on Bonnie and Clyde.

There's two crimes committed in America
Not accredited to the Barrow mob;
They had no hand
In the kidnap demand,
Nor the Kansas City Depot job.

A newsboy once said to his buddy:
"I wish old Clyde would get jumped;
In these awful hard times
We'd make a few dimes
If five or six cops would get bumped."

The police haven't got the report yet,
But Clyde called me up today;
He said, "Don't start any fights--
We aren't working nights--
We're joining the NRA."

From Irving to West Dallas viaduct
Is known as the Great Divide,
Where the women are kin,
And the men are men,
And they won't "stool" on Bonnie and Clyde.

If they try to act like citizens
And rent them a nice little flat,
About the third night
They're invited to fight
By a sub-gun's rat-tat-tat.

They don't think they're too smart or desperate,
They know that the law always wins;
They've been shot at before,
But they do not ignore
That death is the wages of sin.

Some day they'll go down together;
They'll bury them side by side;
To few it'll be grief--
To the law a relief--
But it's death for Bonnie and Clyde.

Bonnie was young and felt alone, living in poverty and maybe in her eyes,, no way out, she needed and thrived for excitement
in her life and found that in Clyde,,,

Some say they were such an odd couple,, Bonnie found a man
who loved and admired her,, and she in return loved him deeper
than we may ever know,,,

In my opinion I don't think either of them believed what they were doing was wrong,, sorta like taking from the rich and living life the best they new how,,,, I do however believe it haunted them deeply.. when death of another became part of the deal.

Fact or Fiction,, Bonnie loved Clyde and died with a song in her heart and Clyde deeply Loved and admired Bonnie,,

A pure love between Soul's,,, maybe in a different era the love story between them would have had a different outcome,,,,

In Bonnie's Eyes so to speak,,, All she needed was Love,, And the rest is History.......brokenheart :heart: flowerforyou

I agree for the most part with LAmom. The only thing I have to disagree with is that I think Bonnie and Clyde knew they were doing was wrong. Doing bad when you know you are doing bad creates an adrenaline like rush. Sometimes people who are in love do stupid things when they are high on the moment.

::raises hand:: I know I did.

Example: I remember dropping out of highschool in the middle of my senior year because my GF and I thought we were in love and that school (different schools) was taking away too much time from us spending time together. Stupid! Stupid! I know. I knew it was wrong. I just didn't care. Only a year later I wised up and went back to school and graduated.

Being in love can be like having a deep thought while you are driving. Before you know it, you drove right passed your exit. I have done this a few times, lol! I refer to this as being in LaLa Land.

Great Post Cy! I like the questions.

I agree, I think they knew it was wrong but reached a point of frustration where they stopped caring. Bonnie loved Clyde the only way she knew how, by staying with him no matter what. She knew it would kill them both, but I don't think she could see anything better for herself (right or wrong).

For some people, their integrity to stay with their choices are overpowering. I can relate to a love choice as this.

(((CY)))

These two had the type of love that the rest of us only dream about... it was complete and unforgiving of others. They loved eachother to the bittersweet end of thier time and with wild abandon living fast and loving fast and hard.

I can't answer the second question cause I can't even imagine those things.

Nice thinker you've put to us thoughflowerforyou
