Do guys bring flowers anymore?Does our age play a part in what we expect from the other person? Maybe I'm just a hopeless English romantic, but of course flowers are a must! All I expect from a first date is to learn about what she likes, so that if I'm lucky enough to get a second date, I can plan something that I know she'll enjoy. |

Myself keep the flowers for another date down the road. Actually I'm just as happy with just one rose then the whole vase thing. To me that is more romantic.
I think the first date should just be to get to know each other not to impress the other. |

I expect lots of eye contact and communication from the first date. I don't need gifts or anything fancy just him and I and lots of talking and sharing

How would I be judged if I showed for first date with one long stemed rose for you, the guy?

Last date I went on... lol.. about 15 months ago.... oops! He brought A dozen Roses and a Box of Chocolates. It was a nice gesture but well to be honest it made me uncomfortable. Because when we made arrangements to go to dinner it was as a friends only dinner with no expectations of anything else. So I was a bit floored to be honest. |

Hmmm, defining first date is tricky. I usually starts things off so casual (coffee in the afternoon). Second date for me is more like a first date I think as I usually havent made up my mind as to whether I want to actually date someone until Ive met them once in person.
People can be very different in person than online. Now mind you, if I ask a gal out to the movies/dancing and dinner...yeah, total date scenario and should bring a flower. Im a big fan of the single rose, both b/c I see what women do with the flowers afterwards (vase) and b/c a dozen roses is damned expensive nowadays lol. Id rather spend it on the actual date itself and kick up the level of food (eg, higher end rest/venues). |

On a first date, I'd expect decent conversation that didn't include staring at my chest all night.

Last time I bought a woman flowers she said to me, "ok, what did you do?"
Another time I sent a dozen roses anonymously to my x at her job. She didn't tell me she received them she wasn't sure who sent them :( Back in my late teens early twenties my mom owned a flower shop so anyone I dated got lots of flowers, they rarely found out I got them free :) As to what I expect on a first date? Well it is more like a hope, intelligent conversation, a good sense of humor and the feeling that the time just flew by. I like a single rose if I am going to give a flower on a first date. Only one time in my life did a girl give me a flower on a date. It was Vera, the first girl I ever loved. We dated on and off from the time I was 15 till I was 21. Should have married that Ukrainian beauty. But as you can see, I have not forgotten it. |
