I think conservatives are, in general, happier. They've thought out their positions carefully, for the most part. To me, it seems like much of liberalism is a kind of knee-jerk, surface-level reactionism.
Now, I know it's not and there's lots of highly-educated, caring liberals out there, but from what I've seen, the force of ideas behind conservatism is so wildly incomprehensibly elevated that a conservative just can't help from being happy! It may seem uncaring, but the devil-may-care attitude comes from having a world view that has things pretty well wrapped up. Tell you what, libs, try being a conservative for a year or two and see if you don't come around. If you don't, go back to your liberal ways and have at it, but once you go right, I think you'll never go back. |

The more I read Dragoness's posts, the more I realize that just the words "conservative" or "Republican" are like kryptonite to her. Forget the substance; she'd vote for Hitler well before she'd vote for any of the aforementioned. Yea, bad experiences with Repubs and conservatives will do that to ya   But your statement is not true, I have in the past voted both, shocking to say, I know but I liked the persons views. Won't be happening again anytime soon though I can guarentee you that. So you admit that labels do in fact matter? Interesting. Thank you for your honesty, however repugnant the results are. |

Me and Dragoness have disagreed to extremes on some issues, and yet we still work together against the Bushies. I also have great respect for her, so your bitter, lame, analogies dont hold water. People can disagree and still work together while maintaining respect! OK, put your foot in your mouth. Look into your own bitterness and ask why you cant admit to Bushes faults!! i will admit i am a heck of a lot more conservative than liberal and have worked with dragoness and fanta both on multiple occasions if i had to label myself i would say i was a moderate conservative fanta i would say is a liberal moderate and dragoness a moderate liberal just a thought but hey what do i know |

I actually do not like labels but the policies behind the labels is identifiable in most instances listed here. Repugnant, so I offended you at some level then, well I will apologize for the offense. I spoke only from personal experience on this subject though I am no expert. Maybe you know more than I do. I also did not include you in my personal views if you did not notice but maybe that matters not. |

No news there.
A lot of conservatives, (like George Bush Jr.), were born with silver spoons in their mouths and grew up in white, privileged, wealthy families, so of course they would be happier, since they don't have to wonder if they're going to be able to pay rent for next month. Also, they tend to put blind faith in leaders and institutions, so if they feel those leaders and institutions are serving their needs, hey, why worry? |

I suppose the liberals are the happiest now, since all three presidential candidates are liberal...we are sure to have a liberal president.
My guess is that McCain will win because he is liberal enough to get a lot of the votes of the democrats who are turned off by Obama and Clinton. It doesn't really matter, nothing will change so long as Congress is so screwed-up and can do nothing. They can only agree on giving themselves a raise in salary and perks. I know the prsident gets credit for the good and blame for the bad that happens during his administration. Someone. tho, figured out that there are 545 persons who are responsible for the mess our country is in. They are elected or appointed. Most of those who are elected spend most of their time getting re-elected, most of the appointed are there for life. |

To sum it up. Real conservatives think like Ron Paul. And no Dragoness Liberals do not have respect for all lifestyles because they do not respect the choice of someone choosing Republican as a life style
