I have a teenage daughter.. I'm lucky I still have change in my wallet!
I have found that keeping cash on hand just makes it easier for her to *need*.. so I tend to keep less than $20 on me.. it saves me a ton in the long run!

does monoply money count I count it, but the good folks at 7-11 seem to frown upon paying in that currency. Kind of hard to take it too a bank is all.

About $250. I always have enough cash to cover any purchases even if I plan on using a debit card. The machines don't always work and cards fail.
I had it happen at my accountants office last week. The card reader wouldn't work for whatever reason and had to pay cash. It was a good thing I had enough to cover it although that meant not buying a garage door that day.
