ok... doesn't anyone else find it disrespectful when ppl spell God with a lower case g?

maybe its just me and my religious background.

It's quite possible. I know that I was taught that God always has to be capitalized as a name would be and it was a respectful issue. However not everyone deems God real and therefor not needing of the respectful spelling. I happen to do it just out of habit but every so often I find myself slipping up and using the lower case "g".

I can see how you would consider it disrespectful in a sense as I have heard that logic before but it's not disrespectful in everyones eyes.

I understand what you are saying because I was raised that way to use a G. but i don't think it's disrespectful. because i don't believe it's meant to be. some don't see God the way i do so no...I don't expect them to use G instead of g. because i don't believe they are doing it as an "i'll show you" type thing.

but that is a good question. i think you just take it for what it is worth. if it's done with the intent of disrespecting...then anything can be disrespectful

that's fine for those who believe in that god but for those who don't it should be optional. It's not disrespectful for someone outside of your faith to write it any way they chose. Maybe their god is an idol.

I'm going to disagree, because if I expected everyone to capitalize "God" when discussing the God of Abraham, I would have to say "Mohammad, peace be upon him" when I talked about Islam. No thank you.

Satan is called the g-d of this world. So who are you calling on when you say g-d. Satan may interfere because he is also g-d.

I was referring to the God that is known by Christians and Jews.

I agree with you! It should be capitalized. But it all depends on how you were brought up. With what beliefs your family had, and taught you. flowerforyou

What if you don't happen to be a Christian or a Jew?

Then your god is different from my God, and I don't have a problem with that. I recognize that their are ppl with different spiritual beliefs and completely respect that. My best friend in high school was wiccan. I am talking to someone who we plan to meet that is wiccan. I have friends that are jewish, muslim and atheist.

What happened was last night, someone im'ed me. And when I mentioned that I had a son. He made the comment that boys were better than girls. Which somehow got on the topic of God making man first, then women. And that person clearly was referring to the Bible. This is what tipped off me posting this thread.
