By the end of the decade Connecticut, Nebraska, and Pennsylvania had followed suit. By 1894, 23 other states had adopted the holiday in honor of workers, and on June 28 of that year, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday in the District of Columbia and the territories.

Well and on the subject of communism, sometimes good things come out of terrible things not saying that communism is terrible either, to each their own. I don't remember what exactly but even Hitlers awful time produced some useful things we still use today. So to completely discount the value of the communists would not be accurate either even if this holiday is not to their credit.

One of my beefs and I've said it before.....It is annoying when people run out of legitmate things to debate, they resort to making fun of person's typos.
