Here is what Rose posted:

side note: Labor Day was unofficially celebrated before International Worker's Day happened (or at least that is what I have found)

http://www.dol.gov/OPA/ABOUTDOL/LABORDAY.HTM

The First Labor Day

The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. The Central Labor Union held its second Labor Day holiday just a year later, on September 5, 1883.

In 1884 the first Monday in September was selected as the holiday, as originally proposed, and the Central Labor Union urged similar organizations in other cities to follow the example of New York and celebrate a "workingmen's holiday" on that date. The idea spread with the growth of labor organizations, and in 1885 Labor Day was celebrated in many industrial centers of the country.

Labor Day Legislation

Through the years the nation gave increasing emphasis to Labor Day. The first governmental recognition came through municipal ordinances passed during 1885 and 1886. From them developed the movement to secure state legislation. The first state bill was introduced into the New York legislature, but the first to become law was passed by Oregon on February 21, 1887. During the year four more states — Colorado, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York — created the Labor Day holiday by legislative enactment. By the end of the decade Connecticut, Nebraska, and Pennsylvania had followed suit. By 1894, 23 other states had adopted the holiday in honor of workers, and on June 28 of that year, Congress passed an act making the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday in the District of Columbia and the territories.

Marine, no disrespect intended here but I haven't looked at a anothers profile on here since I mailed Mark the moderator. So if you would like I can mail him again to find out if I viewed your profile anytime at ALL and we can then address it. And before Marks profile I haven't viewed anyones for a long time, maybe last week when I did my mutual match thingy.

Now if your playing with me now would be a good time to say so, it will stop a whole lot of problems.

There is not too many shy bones in my body by the way

This one?

since I won't be on much (if any this weekend due to medical testing)...I believe this is the link the OP's post came from...in fairness to view everything.

http://flag.blackened.net/daver/anarchism/mayday.html

thought this part was interesting though:

It is not surprising that the state, business leaders, mainstream union officials, and the media would want to hide the true history of May Day, portraying it as a holiday celebrated only in Moscow's Red Square. In its attempt to erase the history and significance of May Day, the United States government declared May 1st to be "Law Day", and gave us instead Labor Day - a holiday devoid of any historical significance other than its importance as a day to swill beer and sit in traffic jams.

Sorry. I didn't know standing up for America was macho and being a male. I thought it was just being proud to be American.

We can be proud to be American without being rude to people with opinions different from ours.flowerforyou
Yes you encourage opinions that are against everything that made America great. If communism is great then where is the Berlin Wall?

I have never said that communism is great. I don't take it personal if someone's belief system is different from mine. I am secure in my own beliefs. These differences are what make the world go round and make it ever so interesting.

Well and on the subject of communism, sometimes good things come out of terrible things not saying that communism is terrible either, to each their own. I don't remember what exactly but even Hitlers awful time produced some useful things we still use today. So to completely discount the value of the communists would not be accurate either even if this holiday is not to their credit.

i swear i'm leaving this thread right now. this is too much fun. i'm afraid of having a heart attack.
hey, marine thank you, man. i really appreciate all the fun.
and in all seriousness, the reason why u r hell of a fun for me because i find very amusing how the endoctrination works.
one thing is pride for the country a person is born which is absolutely right.
the problem is when this normal pride becomes in a sick arrogance, and that is exactly what the military and government endoctrination does.
and with this I withdraw because honestly i can't have a serious debate with you. you r so clouded by endoctrination.
have a good night.
Spelling???

One of my beefs and I've said it before.....It is annoying when people run out of legitmate things to debate, they resort to making fun of person's typos.
