And it's not about being shallow, either. I put up (some rather scary) pics on this site, and I'd expect anyone looking to connect with me to have pics as well. It's only fair play, pure and simple.

By NOT putting up pics, you're being dishonest when you "claim" to be that "ex-playboy playmate" or that you're "too shy" to put up pix of your "shapely body".

Am I the only one who thinks it's sort of pathetic that people are judged solely by ONE simple decision not to post a picture?

Not saying that there aren't those who have dishonest reasons behind that decision -- but to tar everyone with the same brush based on the potential deceptive reasonings of some....?

What about people who use a picture of a sign or a cat or a flower or a sunset or a cartoon character or a pair of lips? That's somehow OK, even though it's no more "them" than a blue box....?

It is a matter of trust. Most people with just a blue box have very little in their profile. When we've gone to the effort to be ourselves, why bother with people who are hiding themselves.

As for the people with other pictures, those pictures tend to portray things about them as well. People pick pictures for various reasons, and that provides a bit of the puzzle that is another person. So even pictures that are not of themselves is are far better than blue boxes and empty profiles.
