yup. its bushs fault that he is handing out money. Who can please the liberals? iF BUSH could **** gold bricks you libs would find something wrong with that.

If he handed you a gold brick & said it was his feces some here would believe that too. I don't like labels of "liberal" & "conservative" because I think they have lost meaning. They only serve to divide people.

What's "conservative" about handing out money that we do not have?
Seems to me a "liberal" by old definations would applaud this.

I surly can use the money, but I am afraid of the price we will pay later.
I personnally started an IRA & saved 300.00 on taxes by doing so. I had to borrow the 1000.00 to do it & will pay it back with my rebate & state refund before I have to pay interest. I am thinking of the future.

Oh i could use the money right now....and i'll post something funny for you in a minute, but first i wanted to touch on this. Has anyone considered the cost of sending out these letters? I read on another site where there were five companies bidding on that, and the bidding called for 20.5 million, Just to mail out these notifications. so we can pretty much assume that same amount- those who filed electronically which is about 70 % from what i can find out, so 70% of 20.5 mil would be roughly an additional 14 mil.... so we are looking at probably 35 million in mailing. **Disclaimer" I have not personally researched this in depth, most of the calculations are off the top of my head and based on someone elses research so i'm not sure how accurate this is. I would be willing to say it's pretty much in the ball park. Please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

lol, ok, all that being said. I was supposed to get back 700 bucks federal, I had settled with a credit card company earlier in the year, no form was sent, but they deducted 400 bucks from that. Then they sent me a letter that i forgot to claim something, basically asking if i wanted to claim it...um...well hail yeah i want to claim it! geesh....I guess they thought i would say....nah you guys really need it worse than i do....laugh so anyhow...haven't seen that money yet, In Ga we pay state taxes, my refund was for 220....i donated twenty to the Ga childrens fund, cancer research, and the elderly fund. This return was sent in almost eight weeks ago...i called the number, and it said being "processed allow three to four weeks" grumble And now i see this post, and i see that i will get my stimulus check around May 30th.....unreal. Gotta laugh to keep from crying. below is part of an email i sent to a friend as we were discussing this.....

lol, they are moving at the pace of....dirt....snails and turtles have formed a committee to help them out. People have had children graduate college in less time.....for cryin out loud it didn't take this long to invent the wheel. I mean come on....the rabbit population is on it's 75th generation, The Rolling Stones turn out albums faster than this. The Empire state building was built in less time Moss is abundant in the d*mn desert and i still don't have my money.

Add this cost to the original mailing costs: People that are on Social Security and don't usually file taxes are receiving a letter to inform them when they're to receive their check.

I don't get it.noway

Amen, brother. If people new the REAL extent to which this "stimulus" affects America, they'd realize that it's like shooting a bullet into an open wound.

Anyone feeling a strong sense of indignation over taking the money--please feel free to e-mail with a note indicating as much and I'll be happy to take it off of your hands. But we know that won't happen--spend it and smile or spend it and complain but we know that everyone will spend it.

If I told you how much I paid last year you would shake your head in disbelief. I don't get one, and even if I did I would feel the same way. 600 bucks is like .00006 cents compared with what I payed. I stick to my guns, it is foolish game of smoke and mirrors that the american people are buying at an unbelievable rate. When the money is gone, we will still be left with a mess only compounded by a few BILLION dollars. Glad it is so easy for some to bury their head in the sand. This is ust another warning that will go unheeded

You're right. I'm spending mine on booze and guns.

Seriously, I never understood attitudes such as this. The complaint isn't about taking money so much as it is handing out money THAT WE DON'T HAVE. What don't you people get?? The reason gas, food, and services are going up in price is because your DOLLAR IS GOING DOWN, and printing more money which is assured through t-bills bought and paid for by the Chinese and Saudis are the only thing that makes it all worth something!! I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall when I try to explain this to my countrymen.

In order for those that normally do not file their tax returns, they in fact, must file a return this year, only adding the words STIMULUS REFUND on the top of the 1040 (cannot use 1040EZ) with the amt of their ss benefits or ssi benefit total only.

Rob--you don't know a thing about me. You don't know what I make or what I pay but I will share only that I pay a great deal. I pay my share of taxes and that of a few other people. That I am going to get some of what I paid back is fine with me. I am single with no kids and earn a good living so I'm fine with getting back some of what I personally paid in. My head is not in the sand (nor did you imply that mine was peronsonally) but I'm fine with this. And you know if people don't want it--give it away--send it back, burn it. I don't give a F. Me, I'll pay down what small debt I have.

Yes, that is true. First they are sent the 1040 with a brochure containing instructions. The brochure states that they will be mailed a letter telling them when to expect their check. In my opinion, that letter is a frivolous expenditure.

understandably so, but how will the recipients know when to expect if not notified?

I am gald you are a responsible tax payer, and I was not pointing a finger directly at you, as you guessed. My whole opinion, take it for what it is MY OPINION, is that instead of being glad that you are getting this money back you should be infuriated that they tax you, as a single self reliant individual, more than anyone else. You should demand a fair tax code in this country, and believe everyone should pay their share instead of leeching off of you. Flat tax, and force people to get off their asses. It pisses me off that I wet to school, and busted my ass to build something so other people can sit at home, and receive checks that did not even pay one dime of taxes, because they received everything they payed in back on a return. You should be as mad as I am brother
