Topic: What are "friends" for? | |
---|---|
I am fairly new here, but what is the point of the "friends" option? Is it to make it more like myspace? Why do I get requests to be added as a friend from people that have not even sent me an email to introduce themselves. I just don't understand. If I go to look at someone's profile, why do I want to see everyone else they have talked to? It either makes them seem like a player, or they are desperate and send these friend requests to everyone with a pulse. Neither is very attractive to me. BTW - I have no "friends" and don't plan to add any. Perhaps I am misguided. Maybe someone could explain.

Thanks. Well at least I'm not the only one. But then again, I don't understand the point of myspace either. LOL. Perhaps I am too old school.

I know one thing about it. When you want to email a friend, it sure is easier when they're on your list. You just click on their name. Otherwise, you would have to do a search to locate them.
I don't know why people send a friend request when they have never spoken to you. I don't accept them. |

Well I myself believe in order to have a meaningful relationship you need to be friends first then go from there...JMO.
Welcome to JSH! |

I like to keep people that I talk to regularly on my friends list because otherwise it is difficult to quickly e-mail them. The e-mail function here does not save addresses. If I don't talk to them on e-mail, I delete them from my list. If I get a request from someone I never saw or heard from in my life, I decline. Sometimes people like what you say in the forums and want to add you so they can talk to you.
JSH is not attempting to be like Myspace. Yuk. Also, when I am talking to someone, I find it helpful to see who their friends are. If they are friends with a lot of people that I consider good people, it says something about them. If all their friends are half naked girls with stripper names, it says something too. I hope this helped. |

Got you Winx. That makes sense. But it doesn't make since for people that have never emailed you first. I have gotten a couple of those.

I don't send out friends requests, but if someone I know from the forums sends me a request, I accept. This site is not only for dating, it's a community of friends as well. |

I agree Hiker. The friends someone has could be an indication of what kind of person they are. I hadn't thought of that. Of course that is even more reason not to add people you haven't talked to.
