Topic: my take on my beliefs | |
---|---|
I don't believe it came from another planet if that is what you mean. I do think it's possibles there is life out there that we don't know. I think it's possible for God (for me) to make other worlds with beings on them. just because the Bible doesn't tell us that...doesn't mean it can't be so. who knoes....maybe the Bible was designed for only our world and other worlds have their own. anything is possible
what do you think? |

Do you think there could be people out there?

lol read my post mirror. do i think there are??? honestly i don't know. i think it's possible. i just never saw why God would only create one world of people. do I know??? i don't know. not sure if I believe or not. I just don't know
about scientology....i always assumed the basis of it was believeing in God through science...am I wrong? |

I believe in a more scientific approach.
We are all from the stuff of exploding stars. Pretty cool eh? All solid matter forms only in stars. As a star ages it burns up its hydrogen, it then burns up the helium, so on and so on through the periodic table. Each time it goes from one periodic element to another it explodes violently causing a shell to be cast off into space. The bits from the explosion eventually clump together forming things like this planet and everything you see on it. This is all explained in books about astronomy. What isn't known is this spark of energy running through us. The scary part is when we die the spark is gone. That's where controversy erupts about the afterlife. What happens to us after we die? It's very hard to understand or explain. Once your body cools down it will start to decay. Again scary stuff! This is where religion steps in to help us out. Jesus made it back from the dead is what Christians believe. I think it's fair to say his resurrection is a core of their religion. Again, trying to give hope to people about an afterlife. I used to hate organized religion thinking they were there just around to make money and profit. I couldn't understand people clinging to beliefs and faiths that were scientifically unsound. That's changed though and I don't think that way anymore. If a religion gives someone peace of mind about death. Then it is serving a good purpose. Ultimately that is what religion is all about. It is about helping us to accept and cope with death. I was baptised a Lutheran but they kicked me out of Sunday school at the age of 4 and never let me back. I questioned the church at that age and asked questions they could not answer. I no longer practice any organized religion. I am not an atheist. Something does not come from nothing. I look at the stars which formed our bodies and wonder what was the big bang. It happened when time did not exist. Maybe the stuff of the Big Bang is God. If so it created the stars which created us. Meaning each of us is also a part of God. Obviously God doesn't care about good and evil because God is not overseeing us. I still don't know about the afterlife which troubles me a little bit. The laws of conservation would indicate that our energy would still exist but in a different form. I love the newest science String Theory which suggests there is an infinite number of universes. You could possibly be only in one while the same person is in another slightly differnt one. This would mean eternal life. You die but you will still exist elsewhere. |

I personally don't see why there wouldn't be. I know my beliefs in my heart and mind, but this I don't know about so I can't say one way or the other.

I don't share often but I'm Latter Day Saint and no we don't believe in plural marriage. That's a breakoff from the original Gospel and very different from the religion & in my eyes twisted thinking. Some think of the religion as a cult but it is not. I haven't been able to go to church in almost a year and a half and I really miss it. I think I have to work harder on not being wide open. than some...my language has slipped a bit.
I saw a forum knocking Mormons earlier and I thought to comment, then thought if I'd been taught what most are I'd be ragging on Mormons too. The difference is The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints and The Reformed Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. Being a child advocate for years, infuriates me to hear of men having sex with minors--twisted. Also some believe Mormons don't believe in Christ, but totally untrue. It's the foundation of the religion. Yellowrose your first thoughts echoed mine. I too believe God is our father and we are sisters and brothers, in the spiritual sense, though I don't know how that comes into play when there is a union or marriage. I think we all have questions. |

i was still confused i guess lol do you believe in life out there? There is a scientific calculation named the Drake Equation based upone factors of probability. We just do not know enough about our universe right now to make accurate forecasts. We are only interested in civilizations in our own galaxy. Those are the only ones who can possibly communicate with us. I believe estimates put the number of alien civilizations capable of communication with us anywhere in our galaxy from 2.3 to 5,000. It depends on what numbers you use. R* = the rate of star creation in our galaxy fp = the fraction of those stars which have planets ne = the average number of planets (satellites may perhaps sometimes be just as good candidates) which can potentially support life per star that has planets fl = the fraction of the above which actually go on to develop life fi = the fraction of the above which actually go on to develop intelligent life fc = the fraction of the above which are willing and able to communicate L = the expected lifetime of such a civilization for the period that it can communicate across interstellar space |

welcome shaden. please feel free to explain more of your beliefs. I don't know alot about them except they are scared of my grandma lol. if that is the post you were referring to...i don't mean anything about the belief....just that my grandma loves to debate and is very strong in her belief.
from what I understand...when the boys get a certain age...they d the door to door thing right? and you have an extra "bible" i guess. like i said...i don't know alot abou it. i love learning and very curious about things and would like to hear your beliefs. please feel free to speak your mind hear....most know i don't put up with cr@p from others attacking lol. I was brought up church of christ. we joke that everything is a sin there. one joke is everyone got up to heaven and the c of c was sitting alone. people asked st michael why he was alone. he replied that he thinks he's the only one up here lol i exagerate on it but i can joke too. personally i don't really believe in churches because i don't agree with everything. i'm not opposed to them but haven't found one i like |

Do you believe in "The Devil"? Do you think "The Devil" is real ?
|
|
|
|
yes I do. Not because my grandfather teases me with I'm living proof the devil is a woman either. I believe the devil is a fallen angel.

DD...dumb it down for me please lol shaden i didn't understand your question about marriages. i'm going on lack of sleep again so my brain isn't all here lol. can you explain? I'm not appealing to the masses here! Actually this is just for you. We live, we die, it sucks. Religion comes along and says, "you won't die". People go, "really? Sign me up for that!" People feel much better now about their loved ones and themselves not dying. Religion is a good thing because it gives people peace of mind about death. The end. |

lol DD...THAT I get...errrr duh...ty lol love ya hun
mirror...I can't truly answer that. it's all about what you believe in. to me...to have good there has to be bad...to have light there has to be day. I guess you can look at it as good vs evil instead of actually "beings". I believe in the actually "beings" myself |

"The Devil" is pretty popular. He is in as many different religions as "God".

what about Greek mythology...Zeus etc
I did a paper in HS comparing Greek and Roman. I love the stories of the greeks. because i view them as fairy tales...I can understand why a non believer would view christianity as a fairy tale |

Do you believe that all of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again ?
