In IM ,you can chat forever. If I am to the point where I would be chatting non-stop with someone via IM, I MUCH prefer the phone. JMO of course. I agree. I think what it is, is that I don't want to "chat". I want to communicate. I can't find any way to do that in one sentence bursts.  In addition, hearing someones voice is so much more personal. Well, I don't know, I keep waiting for you to call me. |

I usually decline.
One, the IM system on this site is about the worst one out there. Two, nearly everyone how IM's me is someone whom I've never seen before, has never bothered to send me a message through the mail. Three, I look at the person's profile, and nearly everyone has absolutely nothing in common with me. No starting place for a conversation. So I'm guessing they saw my picture, saw I was online, and sent me the IM window. Never actually bothering to find out anything about me. Fourth, the last few people to try and IM me all had pictures that looked like the took pics of themselves naked. Sorry, just don't care for that at all. |

Thank u all for the response im was curious because i like to im alot rather than email. I guess its all about prefrence I like the IM better and have very few problems with it. Some folks just want to SAY HI. Some are from forums where we have continued on a theme. Some want to get talked "funny" to, so NOOO. But, generally, I've had good experiences with IM-ing. And, welcome, fellow sorta-newbie!!

I look at their profile first.
Than if I don't know them I tell them I accept emails at first only. I usually don't talk on IM unless it is someone I know allready. I used to accept all IM's- till I kept getting perverted ones...
