I do believe however that I have been spoken to in a way that cannot be understood by someone who refuses anything other than what one can see or hear with their eyes or ears.

I am with you on that Kat! flowerforyou

Too bad he only thought to give us eyes, ears and a brain.

Thank you! And I hope that some day God will see fit to help you out as well! drinker
And I mean that in your kindest possible way. flowerforyou

My question is has anyone heard Jesus voice literally speaking to them?

Jesus said, "My sheep know my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" (John 10:27).

Up2Us....I have heard the audible voice of God in my spirit, warning me about a relationship I was in, some years ago.....

And I can still remember saying , " Lord, if that is truly You speaking, then confirm it in your Word ".

And God did.

Then I said, " Lord, confirm it 2 more times "....And God did.

The Word that God showed me in His Word,to confirm that it was Him speaking to me that day, came ALIVE in my spirit...and literally almost leaped off the page at me!!!
Well...not literally now....laugh

Btw.... this is what I meant in an earlier post , when I talked about the Word becoming RHEMA ....
meaning.....
the Word becomes ALIVE in one's spirit.... cause it is a Word given at a particular time ,for a certain reason.

When a RHEMA Word is given, God's Word will then "speak" , regarding that particular situation, in a BIG WAY!!!

So Yes...God surely can speak to us in an audible voice ,that we can "hear" in our spirit ....but God usually will just speak thru His Word ..and when God does, the Word becomes VERY REAL!!

It's Scary to hear God's Voice...laugh ...

Hey...anyone remember in the bible , where someone heard the Voice of God, and he kept going into His father's room in the night..thinking it was just his pappa calling him?

Well it WAS His pappa callng alright....but it was His HEAVENLY Pappa calling....laugh laugh
(Anyone recall that particular passage in the bible?)

I do not find you broken rabbit. Not at all.
I applaud your wisdom. I may not convey what I mean exactly.

I feel what I feel as do you.

I do not believe I have ever confessed Christianity to anyone. I am a spiritual believer. With God and Jesus as His Son.

What DOES that say about me??

Do you see me a bad person? An ignorant individual due to the fact that I believe that something is bigger than myself? That I believe that there is a reason for being? That a message has been given us by a creator? Because I cannot believe that we just happened by an atom? All things?? Not when all things have DNA just a little off from everything living.

We will never agree rabbit....but let me have my belief, as I do you. If you see me in turmoil or pain of your thought; let me know. But do not make me out to be ignorant. I hope and pray I have not done that to you.

Kat

If you feel all those things then that is what non-Christians feel when they are spoken too. Of course everyone comes in a spectrum and you are on one end of the spectrum. No where near as bad as most. I cannot stop talking about what I believe any more then you can.
When you make a statement like "I cannot believe we just all came from an atom" That is a statement that is trying to make me look ignorant. These tactics go back and forth. I am just using them consistently on this side and that makes you feel bad. If you wanted to follow the rule do onto others. Say you would like me to stop making comments then I would think the only solution for you would be to stop making comments yourself.

I want to make clear that I am not suggesting you stop making comments. I am trying to point out that the words we use seem to be loving and harmless when we speak them but can seem mean and uppity to the people who hear them. This is why proselytizing is so bad.

Rabbit my friend.......
proselytizing is NOT bad......

but I will tell you what IS BAD....
and that is....
Chrsitians who are AFRAID to get out there and get the Word out ... even in the right spirit of Love.

Yep....THAT is what is REALLY BAD..cause they are afraid they will be accused of ...of...
what was that word again?

Uh.....Oh yes......."proselytizing"

Actually , instead of being called "proselytizing" ,it should be called " SHARING the Gospel " ; cause that is what we REALLY are doing.

And Rabbit, do you know WHY we share the Gospel?

It is simply because we LOVE You and Others....and therefore, we want you and others to know this Beautiful Gift of Jesus in your hearts , too.....
THAT is why we Share the Gospel with you. flowerforyou
No other reason.....

In other words..we found "something real and beautiful" in our lives.....
and we want you and others , to have this "something real and beautiful" in your lives , TOO.

And that Something we found ,is JESUS.

Actually... I should say... JESUS found Us.flowerforyou
WE were the ones lost..not Him.laugh

Abra......I just read again where you wrote...that you still think Christianity is a myth.

Yet you said that you already have ask Jesus into your life, and are still waiting.

Abra...here's a little christian children's story for you, that may help...

Once upon a time.....

There was a little silver box fan that sat in a room, all by itself, cause it wanted to run...
But the little box fan did not know how.

So One day, the little box fan heard that there was something called electricity, that would help him to run.
And all
the little silver box fan had to do ,to recieve the electricity , was to plug into the wall outlet in the room, already provided for him..

But the little box fan laughed and said, "I don't belieive I have to get up and go plug into a silly wall outlet, to get electricity in order to run.
Why, I believe I can go straight to the electricity itself...and electricity will come straight to me, without having to go thru a silly wall outlet at all. "

But one day the little box fan got to wondering.....so he challenged the wall outlet to PROVE to him that he was real....and so he told the wall outlet to come to him ,instead, and plug into HIM, IF the wall outlet was really real .

So the little box fan waited and waited and waited for the wall outlet to come to him and prove himself........ but the wall outlet never came to him.

So the little box fan finally said, "SEE"?
" I told you the wall outlet is nothing but a MYTH!!
In fact, I 've been waiting and waiting for 20 years now, and still , that wall outlet has not yet come to plug into me to prove himself to me!!"

So the box fan believed, that since the wall outlet never came to plug into him, to prove he was real..... then that must mean the wall outlet is nothing but a MYTH , after all.

But little did the little silver box fan know....that in order for him to run, HE had to be the one to get up and go
PLUG into the wall outlet provided there for him, INSTEAD..so that he would then have a connection to the electricity, thru the wall outlet.
Then and ony then, would the electricity finally be able to FLOW thru the little box fan .....and make him run.

But last I heard, the little silver box fan is still waiting to this day, waiting...waiting...waiting .....for the wall outlet to come and plug into him .. to prove to him that the wall outlet is real....
because until then, the little box fan just simply refuses to believe the wall outlet is really real...even though the wall outlet is there , already provided for him..and is just waiting for the little box fan to plug into him.

But no.....the little box fan is still thinking the wall outlet should come and plug into him...INSTEAD.. to PROVE he is real to him!!!

Silly silly little box fan!!laugh

Not the end........laugh

I don’t see any analogy between your little box fan story and me. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything in my life. Your little box fan seems to want to run but doesn’t know how.

You’re analogy kind of breaks down there. I’m not seeking any deeper truths. I have no fear of death. Thou I walk through the shadow of the valley of death I fear no evil.

I’m not missing anything in my life except perhaps a flesh and blood partner. But there’s nothing in any religion that says that God will provide me with a flesh and blood partner. In fact, there are a whole lot of single religious people who would like to find mates but can’t seem to fulfill that dream.

So I really don’t see what the religion has to offer me. As far as I’m concerned I already have God in my life. I just don’t believe that the Bible has anything to do with God.

You seem to be hung up on a book more than on a God.

I don’t know what God’s true nature is. All I know is that God loves to play hide and seek no matter what form he she or it is taking.

Now I have a little story I’ll share with you that Reverend Rabbit just shared with me the other day,…

This isn’t verbatim, but it’s close enough,…

A king had no sons of his own to inherit his empire, so he offered to give his empire to one of the children in the town. So he tells all the children he’s going to give them a pot with a seed in it and at the end of the growing season he choose which one will inherit his kingdom based on how well they took care of his potted seed.

The children all took their pots home and started to care for them. One little boy tried everything he good to get his seed to grow, but despite all his tender loving care he just couldn’t make it grow. At the end of the growing season all he had was a barren pot of dirt. Being an honest boy he took his failed attempt with him on the day that all the children were to return to the king’s palace.

When the little boy entered he saw all the other children holding posts with big busy plants and he was the only one with an empty pot. The king walked around and inspected everyone’s plants smiling at them and complimenting them on their work, but when he got to the little boy a very special smile beamed from his face, and he turned to the all the other boys and said, this boy will inherit my kingdom.

Everyone moaned and started asking why when the boy’s pot was empty. The king said, “I never put any seeds in any of the pots”.

I think God would be much like this King. I think he would rather we told him the honest truth that he genuinely is great at playing hide and seek and we really can’t find him. Otherwise we’d be standing their with our false doctrines and graven images of crucifixes claiming that we know what God is like, when the truth is, we really don’t know.

I have no desire to lie to God. The truth is I don’t know what God is like. If I had to guess I would guess pantheism might be the correct picture simply because it’s the most perfect picture I know of to date and I would certainly want to pick the very best possible picture if I am going to guess.

But the truth is that I honestly don’t know and I can’t know. So for me to bow down and worship any religious dogma would be like those kids who planted seeds where there were no seeds.

You said that the outlet refused to go to your little box fan, and that the box fan has to go to the outlet. Well ss far as I’m concerned I’ve already gone to the “Christian Outlet” and stuck my fingers in the socket. I didn’t feel any electricity. I can only assume that the religion must be dead. I’m not going to pretend to get jolted when there’s no juice in the socket.

If I go to God it can only be through honesty. If I have to show up with an empty pot, so be it. I’ll just assume that God is like the wise king who never planted any seeds in the first place as a test to see how many people will chose to lie rather than face the truth that they honestly don’t know what God is like.

I’m not crazy about supporting a myth that proclaims that all of humankind is inherently evil and will ultimately have a catastrophic war over a little nation in the middle east anyway. Why would God want us to do that? I’m afraid that makes no sense to me.

I’ll show up with my empty pot and tell God that’s the best I could do. If there was a seed that was supposed to grow I’ll just confess that it wouldn’t grow for me.

Surely God will be pleased with my honesty if nothing else.

Yes Abra....God understands that you are just being honest.
And God surely wouldn't want you to fake it with Him.

But God also ain't done with you, Abra.
Or with any of us for that matter.

ps...

got more instrumentals ?.... flowerforyou

Oh......about that little box fan....

IF the little box fan, HAD recieved Electricity straight from the source itself.....
It would have been ZAPPED!!

Same with man coming directly to God.

But we CAN come to God.....
thru Christ Jesus .....and NOT get Zapped....

But of course, you already know all that stuff...

question: why is it so hard to believe that someone has heard God or Jesus just because you may not have? I mean with all the other believes out there such as haunted houses etc...why is this so difficult?

Well I'm not a scientist. Science isn't really in the realm of Religion.

My personal philosophy's that are close to religion are like Peace, Love, truth, Do on to others, things like that.

Yeah I did the song cause I read were you said you sometimesdrinker make funny country songs. So I just tried to make my voice that way. It is kinda fun.

It is beyond belief because it does not make sense at all .
Dead people do not talk as they are gone and finished .
From billions and billions of people only few pretend that God and the dead talked to them .
When things do not make sense ,it is better to reject them at once !. Living in imagination and myths is not my cup of tea .

I already believe Jesus is going to become very real to you.

Jesus already is real to me. At least as real as Buddha, and all the others.

I’ve spoken with many religious people, some of whom were actual clergy, and they don’t claim to have heard any voices or to have any direct experience of God or Jesus, other than how they feel in their own heart. When they say that the spirit of Jesus lives in their heart, they mean that they have chosen to follow his teachings and it is only in that sense that they keep the spirit of Jesus ‘alive’.

That could be said about any mortal man of the past. There are man people who are keeping the spirit of Elvis alive too.

In that sense perhaps Jesus does already live in my heart, but he has a lot of company in there too then. Because I he’s certainly not the only person I admire. And I can only admire Jesus on vague hearsay (just like everyone else). I never met the man in person, all I have to go on is the biblical hearsay, and to be perfectly honest I believe that hearsay is grossly contaminated with demagoguery that was added later by men who had an agenda to make Jesus into something he was not and use the stories about him to support their religious beliefs. After all, it’s easy to imaging that the masses made Jesus into a martyr, and then the clergy of the time may well taken that and made him into a full-fledged God that they could use to further their control. Over the masses.

One thing that people today don’t realize is that back in those days superstition and religion was the basic power of the governments. Religion was the main tool of the king and rulers of those times. So it makes perfect sense that the religious authorities in those days (the ones who did the actual transcribing and caring for religious documents) would have clearly had the motivation to slant their religious writings for political purposes.

So I can believe in Jesus as a man and still denounce a lot of the hearsay that was generated after his death.

Yep.
Get ready Abra...good things are ahead for you.

I don’t even think in terms of religion and God as being a source of salvation for my own personal butt. If there was an intervening God who had good things to offer me in life he should have offered them when my mother was alive so that I could have shared them with her and she could have benefited from those good things. It’s kind of too little too late for God to intervene in my life know. He already blew the best chances he had.

Like I say, I’m not worried about personal salvation. I’m not concerned with what’s in it for me personally. My only interest in religion is two-fold,…

1. I’m concerned with how beliefs in particular religions may have a positive, or negative, affect on humanity as a whole.

2. I also have a philosophical curiosity in knowing the true nature of our existence. But in all honesty if the biblical picture turns out to be the truth of reality I will personally find that to be a grave disappointment in general. I just would have thought that our creator would have been far above the petty scenarios that are depicted in that book. So to discover that God really is appeased by blood sacrifices would be a devastating let down to me. I truly believe that our real creator is far above that kind of petty ancient superstition. If God turns out to be as egotistical as us with a desire to be worshiped, praised, and appeased, then all we really are, are some kind of inferior beings who are nothing more than the pets of some other far superior entity. For me personally that just seems like a very dismal picture of reality.

The whole idea behind it is extremely egotistical. It’s all about personal human egos doing whatever is necessary to appease the desires, wants, and needs of another egotistical lifeform they call God.
