jist, I have only been on this site a short while and find your posts both interesting and informative. It is refreshing to see what appears to be an unbiased point of view backed up by facts and research. You seem to be one of the most balanced individuals on this site. I have seen your posts on a variety of subjects and enjoyed reading all of them. You put a refreshing face on a world that has been polarized by idealogues and political rhetoric. I hope to read many more of your posts in the future. And once again, thank you and keep it up!

Wow... I am humbled by your remarks.

I do not see myself or writings as extrordinary in any way. After all.. It is not rocket science to have a desire to be on point and research what you say, what you quote and the validity, applicability to the subject at hand. It just makes sense.

You are making the assumptions that he is not another one of the guys thinking I am you, since we posted these pictures, he is not gay... and I have not turned gay overnight.
The later being a pretty reasonable assumption.

I don't really know what I was trying to say. Although I am trained and skilled in the use of firearms.. I don't have any idea what 'teching' is as it pertains to firearms.

No doubt about that! My ex wife... The first time she shot a long gun (or any firearm for that matter...).. My favorite hunting rifle of the time, since I grew up hunting in thick overgrowth - a pre 64, Model 94. She hit a 4 inch target at 75 yards consistently.. Not one miss for a magazine.
I also had a British Enfield .303 that day... We set out at better then 100 yards.. She could hit a dollar size target.. and naturally understood the trajectory sight, windage...
She shot at least as well as I did and in ways? Much better if you take in to account that it was her first time.
I won't even go into her shooting side arms, and shotguns...
Many thought me a natural when teaching me as a kid. I first learned recurve bow. then compound.. Shotgun, then long gun.. etc.. The first time I shot a hand gun? I was lucky to hit a bullet with the side of a barn at 8 yards.
There was slings when I was in single digit age.. you know.. the ones with corded leather and a stone in a pouch you swing..and slingshot. Both of which I had actually taken more game with then my first rifle.

I swear..She picked it up in an afternoon!

Just because my ex can? Does not mean she does.
Should she ever be in a deadly confrontation and find a firearm of opportunity? I am sure she would use it very effectively if she got over the thought of killing another. If it meant her child? Maybe. If it meant her life.. Who knows.
She has been under the duress of some scary things in her life.. As I have. Stuff that wants you having deadly force by the pull of a trigger.
However.. I know in my heart of hearts. She will never surrender her right to not live in that fear.

jist... does it always mean self defense to u when someone mentions Guns? theres a whole world of shooters out there who enjoy the challenge of the long shot, or competition, or chunking out prarrie dogs, collecting fine firearms, ect. ect.without ever stopping to consider self defense. hmmmm. are they out to get you? lol.
yup slingshots are fun.... if your not a squirrel that is. we used to use taconite pellets for ammo, they atr marble sized iron ore pellets that are about 60 percent iron. we got all we could ever shoot along the rr tracks in the UP.
LATELY I HAVE BEEN INTO PELLET RIFLES, ACTUALLY A VERY ADULT SPORT THESE DAYS, considering some rifles and pistols can run upwards of $3000,00 and are capable of one hole accuracy all day long. a great way to keep in practice and form without spending fat bucks on ammo.

on the other end of the shootin spectrom, theres my 1000 yd bench rest tool, a remington XB-40 IN 300 ultra mag. about 3.00 a pop these days for factory ammo. mabe half that for reloads but with better accuracy.
xxx long range prarrie dog chunker. i can usually get about a four inch group at 600 yds.

the world record for 1000 yd bench rest sat at just under 5 inched forever, but was recently shattered, by a betty,,,, with a 1,8" group. That one will probably never be broken.

not nearly as fun to watch though. they dissapear into a red splatter when that 190 gr pill connects. the spotter gets the best view.
ive been playing wit some pellet rifle sillouettes, reduced scale for more realism. someone shot one of my steels with a .40 cal. glock.... it folded.
