TEL AVIV — An Israeli company has developed a lie detector that could be used on the phone.
BATM Advanced Communications is marketing a lie detector that could work over broadband and Internet phone. Executives said businessmen who deal with unseen clients could use the system. The system, manufactured by BATM's subsidiary, KishKish, monitors in real time stress levels in a speaker's voice. The system, released in December 2006 and based on voice stress analysis technology, alerts users when these levels rise, a possible indication of dishonesty. BATM chief executive Zvi Marom said the company has tested the product in the market by offering it free through both KishKish and Skype. Marom said the system calibrates the speaker's voice for 10 seconds before determining stress levels. "We can measure lots of parameters of the voice that normally no one else can measure," Marom told the Israel21c website. "We can measure tension, change in amplitude and density of voice." Marom said insurance companies have tested KishKish and claimed the software can detect falsehood regardless of the speaker's language or culture. "They were extremely satisfied with the results which showed a 95 to 98 percent accuracy rate," Marom said. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

HAHAHAHAHA How much for home use tho? That's what I'd like to know. There's a few people that I talk to that I'd like to test it out on!!
Give it about another 10 yrs, and the american gov will have that in every single phone in the world! If they aren't already!! I'm kinda anti-gov, can you tell? lol |

Hmmm, hate to break the news, but "lie detectors" have a very low success rate. That has already been proven and is why they can't be used in court and have not been able to for years.
I personally know first hand they are not accurate. I took one at age 19 for employment, told the truth on every question (even admitted I DID inhale) and they told me I failed it. Yet another guy lied and passed. So if this is going to be a method of weeding out liars...just remember, the ones who lie all the time have a lot of practice and can fool many people and even more machines. |

They've been playing around with this for some time now. In fact there are a few companies that have released retail packages and services.

Damn I'm in trouble..."No honey your the only one" I can't really say. The first I heard of it was about 5 or 6 years ago but have not had an opportunity to review any of it. One of my clients asked me about the feasibility of it. I told him that the theory seems to be reasonable enough. There are some tell tale signs that everyone does when being dishonest... Developing a program that can detect those seems plausible. If there was a camera on the subject as well.. i would think that you could get a fairly good accuracy, provided the person was not aware they were being monitored. |
