that a co-worker had been stealing things from work, let's say it's staplers, pens, tape, etc. Would you say anything to them or your boss? This person is just an okay friend, but telling the boss could result in promotion and a raise. What do you do?

Personally... no money or raise is worth making myself out to be the "rat". So, I would first go to this person and tell them what you know and give them the chance to come clean to the boss first, and let them know if they dont report themselves, you'll gladly help them along.

I would say let the boss know, because stealing is not okay at all, it's wrong and immoral, they should be buying them by themselves, not taking. It wouldn't matter if they were an okay friend and don't do it just because it would mean those things, do it because that's what is the right thing to do.

I think it's always a good idea to get ahead by stepping on someone else...
![]() I figure it like this...if they are such a good theif that they don't get caught...they deserve the promotion instead of you. If not...they get caught..probably fired...and you get the promotion... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Trying to fool me with this one?
![]() ![]() I would not want a promotion if it meant someone elses demize! I would how ever speak to the co-worker about their stealing and let it go at that... |

First off if a promotion is based on telling that someone is stealing pens.... I really don't want that promotion.
I would make it a joke, "Wow, is your house made of staples? You sure use alot of them." |

I can't imagine any job where you could get a promotion for identifying the culprit in a stapler theft. Usually it requires, IDK, skills, education, experience, talent.
I could be wrong... |

Since, I'm the boss, I'd appreciate it, knowing a rat bas-turd is stealing from me. Even if its just a stapler, what next my jewelry
