Why is spelling and grammar such a big issue? I think we should all feel free to say what we want the way we want. Some of us aren't as educated as others and try their best. It hurts when you are constantly laughed at about your spelling or your grammar

I dont care who thinks what, but I do find this amusing. Werent you the one making a forum expressing everyone should speak English in public just because you say so? contradiction? flowerforyou

Keep in mind; people can only hurt your feelings when you allow it.

Thats why I'm brining it up. I critized the whole time about my typos. It can really hurt someones feelings

Then my advice would be to take things, from where they come from. If ideas and suggestions are offered take them positively at will. Negative feedback I completely ignore.

It's only a big issue if you want people to understand what you are saying and not have to try to translate what you meant from what you actually said.

On a site with a discussion forum... all communication is within the written word. That is our only tool, really. It is how we express ourselves. We can choose to do it poorly or well.

I feel it is our obligation to write for the readers. To do our utmost to communicate in the best way we can. To run a quick spell check or simply read over our post before we hit that little blue button.

It is simply good manners. We all, I would think, would put out best foot forward in other situations. Attempting to spell and using correct grammar is sort of like good hygiene to me.

Do we need to quote your thread for you? You did say that just last night. And then you complained about it today. Do you think we are unable to remember yesterday?

I never said everyone should speak english in public

I quote:

There is one thin that bothers me the most and I just have to say it. If you are in a public place with family or friends. Please speak English. I can't stand to be in a grocery line waiting and in front of are..lets say.. 5 people and they are all speaking spanish. I think that is so rude. You are in America and I would appriciate it if you speak the langue in public. I could give a **** what you do in the privacy of your own home, but in public speak English.

I feel the need to put my two cents in here. Ahem...

The problem, at least the way I see it, is that you make a post which is going to provoke thought amongst some of the sharper people out here. When they come calling you need to be able to keep up...

If you need to work on your spelling and grammar then by all means do so!!!

If you want to play the part you should know your lines...
