I would wager that 99% of the people on here don't know what that means.  And that is so terribly sad if it is true. Not everyone has their finger on the pulse of what is and is not acceptable to say in society. Some people are so wrapped up in themselves to see that they actually may be wrong.... there are 2 rules of thumb in my religion... To thyne own self be true...... and know thy self. Know where your anger comes from..... and usually it comes from within.... That which you seek and do not find within, you surely will not find with out. Gawd, i'm so profound today.......  |

It is not so much a matter of what is acceptable to say... it is to step back and imagine how what you write "might" be perceived and check for typos, grammatical errors, etc. It is just common courtesy in my world...
If hundreds of people are reading my words, I try to make myself as understood as possible! |

someone used the phrase "wod calling" and when I asked what that meant, I was pretty much accused of being mean.
I still haven't figured out what it is supposed to mean. But hey, it's in English, that's the important thing. Well.. partly in English... |

I was thinking it might mean name calling. My best guess. If people have to guess and try to translate what you are saying then you can't get upset when they call you out on spelling and grammar. We are not just being school teachers here - we are trying to figure out what people are saying, and if their grammar and spelling is so bad that we can't understand what they mean, then it makes communication difficult. |

name calling is mean, not everybody is perfect, you shouldn't need a BA to post a thread, or make fun of their education by over correcting
|

If spelling & grammer are that bad, why not ignore them, rather then make a long no point thread of it.
There are many things in life beyond our PERSONAL control. Control yourself & let others do the same. Manners are the most needed thing. |

I was thinking it might mean name calling. My best guess. If people have to guess and try to translate what you are saying then you can't get upset when they call you out on spelling and grammar. We are not just being school teachers here - we are trying to figure out what people are saying, and if their grammar and spelling is so bad that we can't understand what they mean, then it makes communication difficult.  But you said in another post that people talking around you in another language wouldn't bother YOU at all? So, WHY, should spelling ENGLISH in a group bother YOU at all?? Just wondering?? It is also in JUST a broken ENGLISH..

Not exactly a stellar place to live. Kitty is a very nice person and doens't deserve to be battered every step she takes. Some people like to stir the pot and get the fire going. |

Last night I started a discussion that turned into hell. The whole discussion turned into more of a lets "bash" the girl then a normal discussion. I was called names and treated like dirt. Now I haven't been here that long but I have never been treated like that. I now feel very uncomfortable about what I say in fear I might be bashed for my thoughts. I just felt I had to write this so I can forgive and forget and possibly move on. I do want to thank those that did come to my defense. For those of you who felt like you had to to belittle me like that, I feel bad for you, you are not very nice people and I hope you take some time and think about what you said and how bad you made me feel.
