Your characterization of option #3 is so warped, I really do wonder about what could have happened to cause you to be so blinded by hate.

Couldn't it be that the creator is looking for loyalty and love of good? Your description DEMANDS that God is a liar...because if God is the source of all good things, then God's not asking anyone to be a pet or blindly obey. God is asking everyone to choose good over evil. (That sound is your description crumbling to dust.) Your own assumptions warp any view you can have of another's beliefs. What religion teaches that we are simply the playthings of a overbearing deity? None. What doctrine suggests such a thing? None that I know of.

You are even wrong on the "We did not exist before we were born." Mormons would fall into category 3 and they believe that we all existed before we were born. Stop being so closed minded, don't allow your hatred blind you to the truth. Accept deism or reject it, but there is no reason to allow your illogical hatred to blind you to the truth of what deists believe.

If your going to put options out there...at least give the same respect to all three doors......and even with your lame description of door #3......

Well, let’s face it Feral. If there is an all-powerful supreme being who created lesser creatures to serve under it, then it really does come down to the fact that we are pets of this superior deity.

That’s just a fact. If you find that to be disrespectful then you must view the whole scenario to be lacking respect.

I beg your pardon. But I’m not wrong about anything. I clearly stated, “{some religions may vary on the precise expectations of the deity(s) involved}”

Once again, you’re trying to put everything in terms of very confined absolutes whilst I always give the freedom of abstraction.

A deity that creates inferior creatures to itself is keeping pets. Period.

If you don’t like that idea then you don’t like your own religion. What more can be said. I think you’re just upset because you know that what I say is true and you aren’t willing to accept it.

Preexistance isn't a "expectation". You clearly and unequivicably stated, that all relgions that believe in an external deity deny the preexistance of the soul. So you are wrong. You are wrong on a great many things, this is just one specific example.

I don't know how to answer the question. Not well, but I won't be any more detailed than that. Thanks for asking. How have you been?

Not well is not good...

I appreciate your need for some privacy, it is shared...

I have been better and have been worse... so...

One step at a time towards a goal... one step at a time...

Thinking about good things, and trying my best to feel good while making steps towards good goals...

Doing the best I can...

May your path become an easier and more rewarding one, spider...

<Warning, twilight zone is here>

Infinity is a very very long time. Many Many things have manifested.

This physical universe is one of many environments created for the incubation of life forms, ~bodies which are inhabited by consciousness.

There is no single entity doing all the work. Why would there be? That would be like saying that a single person runs our government. That is just not the case. There are many people involved. Many creators of all rank and stature create, run and maintain these environments to include this, our earth.

There are galaxy aliens of all sorts in this galaxy alone, living in different dimensional worlds. There are queens and armies, and gods galore. Everything you can imagine happens. There are wars in heaven and on the earth, ~always. Power struggles all over the place.

To some of these gods, humans are merely livestock to be used as slaves, or eaten as food, abducted and experimented on. Alien DNA scientists are crossing humans with animals, making clones, mutilating cattle.

It is an eat or be eaten world as one energy source changes to another or consumes another.

Just be thankful you don't know half of what goes on .... you would be shocked.

</end of twilight zone>

How about the belief that none of this actually exists.
Or how about a belief in parallel universes, I'm not really sure where that belongs...I guess section #2...
Or what about the some sort of conglomeration of the 3, where the whole greater entity was actually an accident caused by nature after which "he" created us, but then gave us the ablity to create and mold our own future!...or did I just describe christianity...Man, I smoke too much...smokin smokin smokin

So you're the one who's been creating all those quantum abnormalities and parallel universes. huh

Better lay off the weed.

Send it to me, I'll dispose of it for you. bigsmile

Honestly James...

Taoist thought is intended to not remove value from the unknown by attempting to contain it with words and/or descriptions...

Definitions create boundaries... the unknown has no such boundaries, it is why it is unknown...

Perhaps Quantum Mechanics is unveiling some of that which had been previously misdiagnosed by our empirical knowledge...

The Tao means The Way in common translations...

That is the only description provided in that thought, only because there must be a reference point...

It is a focus upon the opposites which must exist in our reality...

It is the conscious effort to see things from all sides while not containing the unknown...

It is a mind opening thought process....

It is the complete acceptance of our inability to know everything...

It is the acceptence that it is ok to not know...

It is the complete and total de-personification of that which is not known...

CS

I do this every day.

I call it nescience. I just don't need to know. if there exists omniscience then it exists on my behalf and I can rest in not fathoming the totality of it, brcause my condition is limited and the scope of my awareness and vision and senses arre limited.
Within those limitations I have guidance for my benefit that helps me appreciate the mundane that is missed by so many
For example. I can drive for three hours jjust to work for three hours. In that total drive time, I see nature. green hills, trees, purple and yellow flowres that blanket the fields. the ocassional California Poppy too. the various shades of green on the trees. The full bloom of the fruit trees...some of which are now green and filling in the canopy they will make, soon enough.

The blue skies and the ambers and reds and oranges ay sunset...the silver linings in the clouds the craggy mountainds in the distance on on my periphery. All from shifting plates long ago that cause these spires to rise dramatically. from rolling hills with lakes to the expanse of the Central Valley and all the neatly arrayed row crops, even to the return to the cities and all the colors of the manicured landscapes. Some of the cities here are landscaped qiute beautifully.

Others pay for it...I drive through it...building that which others afford for themselves.

It is quite peaceful and gorgeous.

I really don't need to know much more than that which I am and h9ow I act in this.

It is quite freeing, actually.

I see what you are saying and live in that luxurious place, even though it has a name and a label...nevertheless, I have found that of which you speak.

It is a good place to be.

Sounds like the view of one of my heroes,…

“"I can live with doubt and uncertainty and not knowing. I think it is much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers that might be wrong." – Richard Feynman

I’ve always held this stance. I knew very early on in life that life was unknowable. It’s not a problem. In fact, no one knows what’s going on. Many people believe they have found “God” through religion, but all they have really done is given up by accepting ‘blind faith’.

Blind faith is not ‘knowing’ even though the people who have accepted it claim that it is. Well, there is a certain enlighten that comes with blind faith. Once you’ve given over that you believe in a God and you also believe that God knows what the hell’s going on, then you have successfully passed the buck of non-knowing onto the deity that you trust to have all the answers.

That’s how religion works.

People think there’s more to it than that. But there isn’t. That’s precisely what it is. Peace by acceptance that someone else knows the things that we cannot know.

I’ve never had a problem with that.

In fact, based on quantum mechanics even the universe herself doesn’t know everything. It’s a fundamental part of her nature according to the laws of quantum physics. Everyone is still grasping for tha Newtonian world where everything can be known. But the real universe isn’t like that. There are truly things that are unknowable, even by God.

People might find that hard to accept. But who cares? That’s their problem. Not mine. laugh

It doesn’t bother me that there are unknowable things. What ever possessed man to cause him to think that he could or should be able to know everything to begin with? It’s just not necessary.

It’s still fun to speculate. You know that as a philosopher. If you are searching for truth with the hope of actually finding it more power to you! On the other hand, if you’re just doing it for fun then you’ve already found it. bigsmile

I agree that no single sentient being can know everything. However the information is not lost IMO. Information is stored in the manifestations that arise and deposited into the collective unconscious. This is why I say that truth is information. All information is collected and stored and can be unlocked and used by those who learn to do this.

I like this creativeflowerforyou

I know my reality but I cannot ever know all reality.

And that is okay.
